Greetings and salutations! Introducing today’s topic and Korean from Dummies’ very first conversation topic: Self-introduction. Don’t get too overwhelmed about the things that aren’t explained in this post, clarifications will follow, this is just to get you started.

You’ve landed in Korea, actually, you’ve made it to the hotel lobby already, but no one is around, so you’re waiting for the manager to come and check you in. While you wait, you notice a friendly looking person waiting too. You decide to introduce yourself... But how?

안녕하세요! Hello! 만나서 반가워요. Nice to meet you. 저의 이름은... 이에요. My name is... 저는... 이에요. I am a/an..

Easy, right? Here’s a list of possible professions you can use.

So if your name is Lisa and you’re a journalist you would say:

저의 이름은 리사 예요. 저는 기자 예요.

Or your name is John and you’re a doctor:

저의 이름은 존 이에요. 저는 의사 예요.

So that’s my introduction but 누구세요? Who are you?

i could think/write of so many ways in how a character introduces themselves to another character and irl i'd still freeze when someone asks my name and it would never be me to initiate my introducing. issues? or choices?

But even though i'm a shy bitch at first, once you'll get to know me personally and intimately, it would be 50% wide eyed awe and 50% cackles of mirth. 🤷🏽‍♀️💁🏾‍♀️
