Duedephelon blinked a few times, a slightly placid stare following a reaction he clearly wasn't ready for. Payment for information was something he had considered was a possibility but not this quickly. An angel? Fallen no doubt. Despite losing a substantial chunk of his understanding of his situation and surroundings, the fundamentals of how Hell's society worked was fully intact even if no names or faces were familiar to him anymore. The way they were acting clearly had to do with why they down here instead of among their kin...
His ruminations ground to a halt when he finally processed that they thought he was hitting on them- then the questions took over.
"What?" He tilted his head. "What? What? What? What?"
When the angel righted the situation themself, the question passed mercifully. It would be really awkward to be stuck in that loop for too much longer. Self-answering questions count as being answered; that was good to know.
He would need to start over. "My apologies for the misunderstanding," The owl demon bowed gracefully, "I am Duedephelon Noctua, Steward of the Sigils of Minerva." They seemed to recognize him as a member of the ars goetia. They probably had no way of knowing that he was from a low-ranking cadet branch and oversaw nothing but a broken artifact and a small, empty ruined castle.
Did it matter? What if it did? What if it didn't? Was this something he could use to his advantage or would there be consequences if he tried to levy nominal authority with no actual power to back it up?
Those questions would have to wait, as much as it pained him to leave them unanswered. As he brought his thought process back to the present, he silently hoped he hadn't been blankly staring.
He ignored their forwardness for now and pressed on, but something told him it was likely to continue. "To the point then. Firstly, I am looking for... well... myself. Do you recognize me? What about this sigil?" He points to the symbol etched onto the flyer below his photo. "Have you ever found yourself completely engrossed in an all-consuming question? A burning desire for knowledge that colors your every move?"
