Out of genuine curiosity, why do you think Americans dislike football so much?

I don't think we dislike it tbh, we're just not really invested in it for the most part.

This is probably the most interested I can remember people being in forever but rooting for your national team during a major sporting event in your backyard is kind of expected. We def didn't care like this when the world cup was in Qatar for example like I literally don't even know if the US even played 🤷‍♀️

As for why exactly that is....idk I genuinely just think it's kind of a boring sport to watch compared to the other sports we usually have on TV. I'm not really a sports person tho so I'm not the best source of info here but this seems to be a pretty common sentiment amongst my friends too. Soccer also has very little historical or cultural significance to the country.

I do think ppl are enjoying this world cup tho mainly bc it's in our faces for the first time ever so who knows, maybe it will be popular in the near future!!
