3. The fatal glitch. The ideal is unachievable (by design)
The trap is that many these ideals are statistically impossible for most people (e.g., the “perfect” body, the “hustle 24/7” lifestyle, the effortless charisma). Even worse, many of them directly contradict our natural temperament. A deeply introverted kid is told “be outgoing and magnetic.” A sensitive kid is told “don’t be so pussy.” A creative kid is told “be practical and productive.”
We keep trying because the mind still believes “If I can just become this ideal version, I will finally have power and stop feeling anxious/empty.” But we can’t. We fall short again and again.
