"How does a bastard, orphan, son of a youkai and a human, dropped in the middle of a forgotten spot...

No one asks about it, but I wanted to explain the connections between Hamilton and Inuyasha that inspired me to start my fic (which I hope to get back to updating soon)

Hamilton: Arrogant, immigrant, orphan, bastard, son of a whore and a Scottsman

Inuyasha: Arrogant, orphan, bastard, half-human/half-demon, shunned by society

Both are real go-getters, brash, impulsive, reckless, NON-STOP.

Hamilton’s mother gets sick and dies when he’s 10.

Inuyasha’s mother also dies when he’s very young.

Both are left to pretty much raise themselves and learn on their own.

Sesshomaru and Burr are not alike personality wise, except both are really cautious. Burr’s quotes seem like words Sesshomaru lives by: “Wait for it.” “Talk less, smile more. Don’t let them know what you’re against or what you’re for.” “Fools who run the mouths off wind up date.”

Hamilton and Burr end up as frenemies and rivals.  A love-hate….or hate-hate..relationship.  Same as Inu and Sessh.

Washington saw potential in Hamilton and tried to treat him like a son.  Hamilton had great respect for Washington, but didn’t quite get along with him. IRL, there were rumors that Hamilton was Washington’s son.  In the play, Hamilton has SERIOUS “daddy” issues… His father left them he was 10 and never really cared for him.

For my AU, with Inu not ever having really known his actual dad in the series, the relationship dynamic seems strikingly similar.  TBH, I read a fanfic where Washington and Hamilton came to the realization that Hamilton was his son, which inspired me to pursue this AU.

ELIZA AND KAGOME: PRECIOUS CINNAMON BUNS TOO SWEET, TOO KIND, TOO GOOD, TOO PURE FOR THIS WORLD.  Both fall in love with an arrogant orphan that they’re WAY too good for.

Said arrogant-orphan eventually cheats on them.  Hate to go by the stereotypical trope, but at least series wise, Hamilton’s affair with Maria reminds me of Inuyasha’s meetings with Kikyo, naturally.

Angelica and Sango are both strong, opinionated, independent women who will fight for what’s right.  They’ll also protect Eliza/Kagome with their lives!

Inuham- It's Quiet Uptown

I haven't drawn Inuyasha & gang on a LOOOONG time, and when I did they usually were always smiling. So I'm hoping to get into some sketch practices to get back into the feel of drawing their characters, and expanding their expressions.

That said, I wanted to try to capture some emotion in a scene for my Inuhamilton AU.

I used a picture of Lin Manuel Miranda's Hamilton and Philippa Soo's Eliza for reference.

I'm hoping I can sketch/draw several scenes for my fic! 🤞🏾

In this shot, he's supposed to be looking at her, and I imagine this is after "It's Quiet Uptown" so...Kagome looks a bit disconnected and Inu...feeling guilty....and apprehensive.

Inuyasha Hamilton

(It's been on my mind to draw this for a while as a logo for my fic! Just doodled this sketch tonight)!

So for my InuHam fic I was gonna stick with just the official songs for inspiration, but then there are little gems like this deleted number and tell me Hamilton doesn't just SCREAM our puppy boy in this! xD

So now I may browse some of the deleted songs to reference too.

In short, I will definitely have a scene where Inuyasha is Taisho's hype man, screaming at the rebels to,

"PAY THEIR F****** TAXES!!!"

Okay. I’m having a BLAST writing my crossover fanfic (Whoot!!) Finally picked an excerpt to share that doesn’t give too much away. I’m about 5 chapters in overall, and I have a good idea where I want to go with it (yay)! But this will take quite a while to write. I do want to start posting to AO3 sometime this week to get the ball rolling though.

NOTE: The final draft will NOT follow the musical to the letter. I’m taking a LOT of creative liberty with this. For instance, Miroku is my John Laurens, and I’ve got quite the plan for him.

But in the meantime, enjoy this short!

He knew they were just waiting for him to make a move. He told himself not to give them a reason, but mentally began counting down when one of the clerks would be brave enough to approach and kick them out.  Of course, having Miroku with him did help. If Miroku didn’t see him as a threat, that worked in his favor. 

His friend was next to him, idly people watching, when a scene caught his attention enough to raise an eyebrow.  He smirked,

“Yo, Inuyasha. Check out the new merchandise,” he said, nudging the half-demon in the side with his elbow.  Inuyasha blearily looked up and blinked.  Across the street was a skinny young human man with sandy brown hair who, Inuyasha immediately decided, the half-demon could easily knock over with a puff of air.  He was dressed in dark black robes, (Great, another member of Naraku’s fan club Inuyasha noted sourly), and was standing on a soap box waving his arms around and shouting at the top of his lungs to draw in the attention of the crowd.

 “HEAR YE, HEAR YE! My name is Akitoki Hojo, and today, I present to you free thoughts on the proceedings of the Continental Congress, the body of rule that has claimed to protect us, but instead has betrayed our people and our heritage by rebelling against the crown! Lend me your ears, and I shall speak of our merciful ruler, Lord Naraku, and his stable, systematic rule of government!”

“Merciful? What, has he been in a coma for the last decade?” Inuyasha muttered, furrowing his eyebrows.

The boy cleared his throat and took a deep breath,

“Heed not the rabble who scream, ‘REVOLUTION!’ They have not your interest at heart!  Chaos and bloodshed are not a solution, don’t let them lead you astray!” He cried. The two boys winced, their irritation growing steady.

“Inuyasha.”

“No.”

“C’mon, you gotta rip into this guy. Tear him a new one.”

“Look, if he wants his ass kicked by half the town, let him go right ahead. I stuck my neck out for Totosai yesterday, I ain’t exactly up to redoing that dance,” the half demon said, flipping the pages of his book. His ears twitched as Akitoki continued and he had to grit his teeth.

Granted, IF the crowd DID turned violent, Inuyasha would, reluctantly, be ready to save the kid’s ass.  But that didn’t mean he had to like or agree with him. He actually could throw verbal barbs as well as the next guy, if not better, and he reveled in such opportunities.

For now, he felt like staying out of it. …But the kid was definitely pushing his buttons as he rambled on.

Presently, Miroku shifted beside Inuyasha before making his way toward the scene.

“Where do you think you’re going?”

“No way I’m missing out on this train wreck,” Miroku said with a snarky grin. Inuyasha rolled his eyes, making his way toward the scene with his friend.

“The kid’s asking for it, Inuyasha. Come on, put him in his place. You know you want too. Plus it always makes for a good show!” Miroku said, nudging him. Inuyasha bit the inside of his cheek to restrain himself and tightly folded his arms across his chest. 

“Do not be drawn in in by their foolish cries, lest it be our downfall, your doom! Obeying Lord Naraku is the only path to salvation.  And to those who betray the king, I pray that he shows you his mercy!  For shame, for shame!””

That was it. 

Inuyasha shoved his bag at Miroku’s chest, grinning devilishly. 

“Hold my books.”

Fun fact: At the end, the “Hold my books,” line is 200% inspired by that “Hold my flower/Don’t worry babe, I’ve got your flower” meme on that’s been floating around Tumblr for ages! HAHA!

“Going around telling people what you think is dangerous, especially in this time of tension and turmoil,” the demon explained as the younger teen followed him to the main counter of the bar.  Inuyasha frowned, lips pressed into a fine line as he listened to what the older man was saying.

“But, how are you supposed to rally people to fight for the cause if you don’t talk to them?”

“It doesn’t matter.  In the end, those you consider your closest friends may be your enemies. …The less ammunition you supply them, the better,” he said cooly, as a lizard demon approached them and took their order.  Inuyasha was going to protest Sesshomaru getting him a beverage, as he didn’t want to owe him any favors.  But one look from the dog-youkai told the teen he didn’t really have a say in the matter. The way Sesshomaru figured it, if the kid was taking it upon himself to follow the older demon around, the civil thing to do would be to at least buy his drink.  Inuyasha folded his arms on the countertop,

“I dunno, it still just seems off.  You can’t spark change if folks don’t know where you stand.”

“Actions speak louder than words, Inuyasha.” Sesshomaru answered.

 “Allons guys!  Hit me with another one!  This is too easy!” a young voice said.  Inuyasha turned around at the voice to spot two demons and a human seated around a table behind them.  To be more specific: a wolf demon, a fox kit, and a man with a glove on one hand whose shot, black hair was pulled back into a ponytail.  The fox kit was pounding on his little chest with one paw and waving a….mug of Sam Adams around?  Wasn’t he too young for that?

“HAHAHA!  Why don’t you go ahead and do Laurens again?!” the wolf demon asked in a bellowing voice. He looked more animalistic than humanoid, and was a pretty large youkai.

“Ah, alas! Royakan!” the kit shouted back. “I do not want him to get a big head!” he snickered, cutting his eyes back around at the human. Inuyasha’s ears flickered, picking up on the fact that the kit actually had a strong French accent.

“Psh!  Don’t flatter yourself, you haven’t quite mastered capturing all the essence of this greatness!” the man, Inuyasha supposed this was Laurens, shot back.

“Oh-ho, I take that bet mon-ami!” the kit cried.  The next thing they knew, he raised his paw and there was a puff of smoke.  As it dissipated, an exact likeliness of the human, Laurens, was in place where the kit had been.  Inuyasha blinked and rubbed at his eyes, he was seeing double!  The clone raised his beer mug up higher, French accent still thick as he mocked his friend,

“Yo! I am Miroku Laurens in the place to be!  A-two pints of Sam Adams, but I’m working on three, ha! Those purple coats don’t want it with me!  And OH! I can’t help it the ladies think I am so sexy!”  he winked and blew a fake kiss in the real Laurens’ direction.  Royokan burst into laughter as Miroku shrugged nonchalantly,

“Hey, can’t argue with the facts! Alright, alright, not half bad…for a fox!” he said.  With that, there was another puff of smoke, but an older version of the kit was now present.  He stood up straight and bowed,

“Ah, oui!  Merci! Merci! But I do not do birthday parties!” he said, causing everyone to laugh even more.  

“Who’s getting the big head now?” Miroku asked.  The fox demon then sat in his seat and tipped his chair back, waving his beer mug in the direction of the main bar.

“OY! Let us get another around of ze booze over—oh!”  his eyes grew wide as he noticed Sesshomaru and Inuyasha across the room.  Miroku and Royokan spotted them as well.

“Well, well, if it isn’t Sesshomaru!  The prodigy of Princeton!  Pull up a seat, Burr!”

“And introduce us to your friend!” Royokan added.  Inuyasha cast a slide glance in Sesshomaru’s direction, but the older demon didn’t move.  He didn’t even dignify them with a response.  They tsked and boo’d him as Inuyasha stood and walked over to introduce himself.
