Did anyone else as a kid completely just assume that Jakotsu was female because of his voice in the dub? Like I was 11 or 12 at the time iirc (we're talking 2005/2006), so I think all the times Jakotsu was referred to with male pronouns just completely went over my head or I assumed was a mistake, and at the time I had no idea that homosexuality was a thing. So I just assumed Jakotsu was a girl, maybe even in disguise ala Mulan to appear more threatening to enemies. Like I legitimately thought the chest plate was to cover "her" boobs.
It wasn't until a few years later when I was rewatching the anime at 15 did I realize that Jakotsu was indeed male, just dramatic and super gay. And I felt so dumb when that realization hit.
