so i was thinking how, in the 90s it felt like media was much more diverse without using as many racist stereotypes, and other things, and like, there were sometimes gay people, and even though they went by stereotypes and stuff, it felt... more progressive than media now.
and someone else pointed it out, and so now i'm pretty sure i'm not the only one who feels that.
Then today, in politics class, my professor mentioned how, after 9/11, more people put the focus on the national government because they could get things done faster. So maybe one of the reasons why media has gotten so white washed is because the privileged people were suddenly scared and didn't want diversity because look what diversity and trusting people like human beings got us? people who were OTHER suddenly attacking us, and so it was just like a snow ball effect. and it sucks.
anyway, that's just a THEORY, not like legit with evidence and shit. it is probably a FALLACY even, too. i just don't know what, but it's interesting to think about.
