Full name is Invidi Karubu, and she is a 14 sweep old cerulean. Technically, her nickname is Invi, but hell if sheâll let you use it.
In general, Invidi is resourceful, no nonsense, horrifyingly intense, and a teeny bit, how do you say, problematic.Â
Sheâs been a career cop for several sweeps, raised around a group of highly hemoloyal group of highbloods, and thus gained their particular sense of justice. Furthered on by the somewhat territorial and brutal nature of her own lusus, a goose-panther griffin, sheâs adopted a very recognizably blunt demeanor.
She is no-nonsense, a little uptight, brutal, intense, and completely and entirely unaware of just how intense she actually is. Sheâs very blunt, often straight to the point, and has a habit of not mincing words or beating around the bush. The only exception to this was when she worked undercover, and while she still came off as blunt and straightforward, she easily kept herself in check.
Her abrasive nature doesnât make her very many friends, and neither does her job. Sheâs not out to make friends either, sheâs here to do her job, or thatâs what she claims. If sheâs a little lonely sometimes, realizing she doesnât get out much and doesnât interact much outside coworkers that clearly donât like her much? Well, sheâll never tell you that.
After all, it isnât as if her brutal and intense reputation isnât well earned. There were rumors once that, when undercover, sheâd broken her heel and promptly stabbed a perp with the jagged stiletto. If you ask her if itâs true, she simply gives you a blank stare with a raised eyebrow.
Sheâs a real friendly social butterfly, that one.
She started the early sweeps of her career undercover, but was eventually transferred from the Vice unit because there were concerns she was a tiny bit too good at the job. Itâs unsure whether or not sheâs actually dirty, and itâs the kind of accusation that theyâd like solid proof of before bringing it up. Since being transferred out of Vice, though, sheâs climbed up to being a detective, which generally suits her.
Her psionics are âkarma basedâ. She hijacks the nervous system of someone she touches, but itâs a little more complex than that. She has the ability to both heal/take away pain and inflict pain. The more pain she takes away, the more she can inflict. The more pain she inflicts, the more she can take away. This is activated through touch, and it is why she often wears gloves. She has a very good handle on it, but would prefer not to use it on accident or on the wrong person.
She doesnât have as strict a sense of hemoloyalty as some. She views everyone as having a role and playing a part, and as such, needing to play that role. If a lowblood has very clearly been wronged in a way she can help with, she well help them. Protecting lowbloods doing their duty fits into her worldview, because if cogs of the machine fall out of place, the machine cannot function effectively. Generally though, she views anyone below olive with a slightly wary eye.
Sheâs a very good example of what I call a âcrossroadsâ character. She has a story that can go in many ways, and I donât have much of a planned arc for her. She could potentially make some friends, have her eyes opened, be a better person if she falls into certain crowds. OR she can fall into a worse crowd and become even more of a menacing presence to everyone around her, and feel justified in being so.
Potential plots and interactions I have in mind for her are to be around other cops and legislacerators, potentially even gaining a partner. Dealing with crimes, interacting with criminals and rebels on the job and off of it. Potential for changing her worldviews, whether that be for better or for worse.
