And Helltober 12: Glutton for Something
Another catchup piece! This one featuring my OC Invishna, the god of oblivion, also known as the god-eater, and devourer of reality. Eternally hungry and always looking for something to munch and crunch.... their true form is actually a huge gaping maw. This is their humanoid avatar used for reaching out to the followers c:
Original worldsetting things I started working on as felt I haven’t been doing enough for my own ideas lately 8;3
Maw Lords are the most powerful servants of the god-eater Invishna and are the avatars of their arrival to realities that are considered “doomed” and thus prime pickings to be devoured completely.
My attempt at trying to splain the original worldsetting more ; w
Weekly art challenge on a discord was dating sim monster prom thingy....so I use it to draw the gods of oblivion in my personal worldsetting as dateable options for funsies c:
Xyloshar, Nemesii, Oraya, and Invishna.....who would you date?
Concept arts of OCs from my original setting, Obscuraverse! I did these as refs for those poking me back for refs when I was asking for em for characters of theres XD
From top the bottom we have the following:
Azorath: Keeper of Memory: Mad god of the north. Out of his mind from horrific tortures and completely off his rocker, but he does try hard to be a “good” god....he’s just got a lot of trauma...
Rangoshimir: Guardian of the Present Time, wild man-child that has no concept of the past or the future, living only in the now. Impuslive but a hell of a fighter, he’s a pretty chill fish boi
Invishna’s avatar form that they use to speak with mortals. Real form Invishna is a terrifying gaping maw 8I Invishy is the god of oblivion that devours all to feed an unending hunger...and main god of the campaign I’m doing so their concept doubles up for that!
Concept art of Invishna, the god-eater and Oblivion itself. One of the deities that gets to sit on the counsel of eternity of which only five individuals sit. First of the Obscuri concepts to get done! going to fully render the gods as it shows more the details/look of em <3
The top picture is their true form. The bottom half is the avatar forms they project to followers. More often than not, Invishna appears as a child despite being weakest in this form. The adult form is taken when Invishna is less than pleased.
Click read-more for more details! (also don’t be afraid to ask about my Ocs! love questions about them too c:)
Invishna is an eldront, a child of the cesslpool drudge and another immortal being producing a god-child. However, Invishna was born with an insatiable hunger and as they grew older, a disdain for their eldront siblings. Thus the god-eater earned their name by devouring all the other eldront, leaving them as the only surviving member of the species.
Their father, the cesspool drudge, fearing their hunger, chained up Invishna to contain their appetite so they would not consume everything. Whatever Invishna eats is gone forever, lost to the ages.
The immortal races of the devoured eldronts now fell under Invishna but all but three races rejected them and were destroyed by the hungering one. More or less by Obscuri mindset, Invishna is the premiere god despite the various primordial gods more or less because Invishna is more active. At times the god-eater though will order things on the behest of the primordial gods who still tentatively hold their chain.
Invishna can manifest huge maws to facilitate being fed sacrifices from cities, providing benefits in return. They will more often communicate through their avatar forms, in particular the child form. The adult form is rarely seen and often said to be more an ill omen of displeasing the god.
Invishna is also a patron guardian deity of children and will not take children as sacrifice and in fact actively protects children. Those followers who abuse a child in anyway are punished with a swift death and it has been known for Invishna to appear in their child form to play with lonely children and look after them. This extends to health and schooling as well, with the god having a particular interest in such establishments sparing no expenses to make children comfortable and to give them support. However, upon adulthood, Invishna’s favor retracts and at that point you are food unless you have other things to offer to the god-eater.
Personality-wise, they are very childish at times, almost naive and simply-minded in their wants. They are hungry and wish to eat. That’s their biggest concern and rarely do they care for other things. Not a very ambitious deity and content to stay put, a trait shared with most primordial gods. They can be quiet sadistic though to those that harm children and in general rather cruel to followers who have displeased them in some way. Those that please them though find that their favor is thoughtful and without compare although it is rare to do something to really gain that favor.
