SheerWind- Involex
The demand for sustainable energy is increasing with more wind and solar farms being created yearly. To the outsider it would seem like wind farms are efficient machines, yet the reality is that they are only producing electricity 70-85% of the time. Granted a high percentage, but SheerWind has been looking to increase this efficiency level.
Sheer Wind has announced their Involex system, to help combat intermittency levels at wind farms and make wind power into a reliable base-load power source, replacing coal base-load power sources.
Involex is a system that integrates three turbines into a single Involex system, which is basically a large funnel that captures, concentrates and accelerates wind before delivering it to the turbines at ground level.
With this system power generation can jump to 120% with the three turbines working together, this increases the electrical output for a single tower.
This means that even of flat windless days the Involex system captures enough wind to make the turbines spin effectively producing much needed power.
The Involex is a great investment for areas with limited wind speed that wouldn’t normally be viable for a wind turbine, opening up the possibilities of wind power.
As the system can house three turbines within the funnel, it is brilliant for small pieces of land or areas with constraints on land use, with one funnel there is the capacity to power three turbines, effectively cutting down on land space and eyesores.

Using the SheerWind Involex system could reduce the cost per kilowatt that with the recent decrease in cost of solar energy would be a great boost for wind power.
