Brown eyes stared intently at the television, despite not being able to fully focus on the news report that blipped across the screen. And as a reporter discussed the decision in Mia Fey's murder trial, Maya was, admittedly, only half listening.

She didn't need to hear it; she'd been there for a good majority of the trial. What she hadn't seen for herself, she'd heard about from her sister.

Yet she didn't have the motivation... nor the heart to change the channel.

Her fingers curled around the edge of the couch she was sitting on, and she sniffled softly.
