When the subject is priestesses in greek mythology and someone mentions Medusa:
“Medusa’s stone gaze work on men but not women” sounds insanely terfy actually.
Short but efficient
I love the myths of Iodama and Triteia because both only have 1 paragraph but are perfect to disprove fake news around Athena and her priestesses
This one shows a woman wasn't required to be a virgin/chaste
This one shows that the goddess wasn't very affectionate towards the women who worked at her temples
And as a bonus proves that the petrifying gaze of Medusa can kill women
TERFs: Medusa’s gaze only works on men!
Iodama and Ariadne:
Something interesting about Athena that goes against what some might expect is that she has a bad relation with her Priestesses.
She used the head of Medusa to turn Iodama into stone for no reason, she punished Auge for giving birth in the temple and as far as I know never interacted with Triteia.
I guess that would make the Priestess Medusa fanfic actually quite realistic, even thought the gorgon wasn't described as a Priestess in any myth.
