every problem he has he pushes aside with a smile and a laugh, because oh, his friends need support, they are going through so much more. he's sick? well that sucks, but clearly he can deal with it, everyone needs to focus on helping everyone else; HE needs to focus on saving everyone else.

i dont think he (the character) realizes how little he thinks of himself. yes he's more comfortable with his magic and his capabilities, but the moment he realizes he might lose others it's all back to who he was before all of this.

he's actively helping others probably because he sees that's something that gives him value, and makes him "important" to the kingdom, and he cares about these people, so of course he wants to be useful to them!

they are people and make mistakes, but he has to get it right
