The countdown is REAL Ya’ll. We’re launching the new section of PSS at midnight central tonight (5 hours!!) and I am so excited and nervous. Its’ the biggest addition we’ve made in one swoop since we launched last July, we’re launching it on the anniversary of our founding, and I have spent my waking hours for the last month working nearly nonstop getting it researched, prepped, put together and aligned (and aligned, and aligned and aligned and.. but that’s another story).
And I think part of my excitement (aside from just the... we’ve made it YEAR from conception and are still excited and planning and moving forward), is that this is such a huge boon of resources that we’re adding to our community. It is so hard sometimes, as someone with a disability, with chronic illness, as a spoonie- to FIND resources. Not because they don’t exist, but because there is no real central place to go to find them.
Google is great, that’s true- but who has the spoons to sort, sift and vette millions of search results to find the one thing that will possibly help the MOST? And I’m sure we haven’t found everything, we’ll never get to find everything. But after midnight- when a spoonie wants to see what apps they should check out for their phone, what may help them track food, or allergies or pain. What may help them navigate food allergies at restaurants... they can come to this section and have somewhere concrete to START.
And considering it’s that kind of lacking resource that led us to START this thing, being the people who can provide it feels unbelievable. We saw a need a year ago, and now we are really and truly working to fill a very real gap in our community. And it’s incredible.
Because I’m still waiting for wix to solve my alignment issues (those of you that have me on FB are familiar with this drama), I haven’t touched the Apps section since declaring it finished a couple of days ago. Instead, I started on a page we’ve wanted to add for awhile... a sort of.. one-off/mega-marts/cheap shots listing. It’s simple, no photos(not for now anyway), just quick descriptions, link outs. I’ll probably fly it on the site later this week. But it also helped clear out my bookmarks folder a little too, which needed to happen.
I just have this dream of PSS becoming THE place you go when you have a chronic condition or disability or are any kind of spoonie and you need a resource. For equipment, for technology, for apps, for beauty tips, for community. And I feel like, only a year into this idea, we’re really heading in that direction.
And I couldn’t be happier. We dreamed this thing and in 2 months we set it loose and in a year it’s become this incredible resource that is constantly growing.
We have created this amazing thing. And I couldn’t have even begun to do it without Kristie and I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to do this with either. I’m so proud of what we’ve done. I’m so excited to see where we go next. A 5-hours-early-toast: To the future of PrettySickSupply.com . Here we come!
