What a wonderful day I've had! Visited Antonis in his gloriously colourful workshop, surrounded by all his fabulous artwork vibrating with positive energy. We had a lovely chat & then he gave me this great present which I'll take to Ios with me. His wife Dimitra joined us & we went to a little traditional mezedepoleio in Athens for a meze & copious amounts of tsipouro while waiting for their daughter to finish her lesson. Lots of laughs & good fun. Got a lesbian taxi driver back home - I only mention her sexual orientation because after a rather tipsy conversation (on my part), she tried to pick me up. I considered this a great honour as she was drop dead gorgeous & also found it quite amusing. Back home safely, feeling no pain after having spent a fabulous few hours with friends, reconnecting & having fun. Mac? What Mac? Had to wait for a while at the Passport Office but I finally got my new passport. Then I made my way to Richmond to see Paul. It was the first time I'd visited his renovated house when he was actually living there & I was impressed how cosy & charming he's made it. Noah has grown even more - he towers over me now - it's been fun watching him grow up & watch the changes. Also I was delighted to see @aliyaraphael who came straight over from work & cooked us a delicious meal. So kind of her & it was lovely to see her - gorgeous as ever. All the family have become such good friends to me & have been a great support. Oh, those #iosconnections! We'd reconnected with Paul when Aliya was a babe in arms at a friends' house & since then we always try & meet up when I'm in London .... and also on Ios of course. I'm very lucky in life that I've met some amazing people & many of them have become friends. Today I'm feeling absolutely knackered, but as the sun is shining (yes, I'm in London & it's shone all the time I've been here!) I'll go for a stroll to Portobello Market & look around there this morning. Met up with Sallie after a gap of over 20 years. It was wonderful to see her again. Social media has its uses - we hooked up again thru FB. We reminisced, caught up with each other's news. As Sallie is going over to Ios, I gave her updates on old friends & a few of the changes so she won't be totally shocked. We strolled through #psirri looking at the street art. Trust me to point out that, rather than ancient sites. We ended up incongruously in an Indian restaurant - the #jaipurpalacepsirri. A good choice in the end. Beautifully decorated, delicious food and a very friendly waiter. He told us that this particular place had recently opened but there were a few other branches in #athens. Well worth a visit. When I first came to live in Athens, there were so few places to eat not based on Greek or Mediterranean cuisine - now you are spoilt for choice. I hope I'll get back to Ios in time to meet up with Sallie & her daughter Rhea before they fly back to the US. While we were chatting, we found out a few connections we only became aware of now by pooling our knowledge. It's amazing, those #iosconnections!
