Week 13: Chongqing

For our last travel destination during our program here in China, we visited Chongqing, which had amazing skylines, spicy food, and unique architecture. As we wrap up the summer semester, all I can think about is how wonderful it was to come to Shanghai for this study abroad opportunity, and I will reflect on the entirety in a post coming soon. Week 12: Chengdu

Hi everybody! I can't believe it's already the penultimate week of this program, and I know I'm going to miss it as soon as it ends. But on the brighter side, this week we took an organized trip to Chengdu to tour places like Dujiangyan, Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Sanxingdui Museum, and the Giant Panda Research Base! Week 11: Shanghai's infrastructure

Hey everyone! This week me and my friend Jason decided to bike from our dorm to near Shanghai's city center to an area called Xujiahui. In this video, you can see how well bike lanes and paths for electric scooters are made, and that everything is very accessible even without a car. This is a big change coming from the US where it's much more difficult to get to places without driving. Hope you guys enjoy this insight into Shanghai, and two more videos should be coming out soon!

Week 10: Expo Culture Park and more!

After coming back from two weekends packed with traveling, we stayed local and explored some places in Shanghai we hadn't yet. The Expo Culture Park is where the 2010 World Expo was hosted in Shanghai, and it has been renovated to become a beautiful park to take a stroll in. In this week's video, we go there to take a look!

Week 9: Travels in Guilin!

After lots of thought and planning, we decided to visit Guilin and Yangshuo, China. The karst mountains provided amazing scenery and a nice change from the cityscapes we've seen lots of already. Come watch us visit places like the Sun and Moon Pagodas, take a boat down the Li River, and explore the Longji Rice Terraces!

Week 8: Suzhou and Nanjing

After finally completing midterms, we took the weekend to travel to both Suzhou and Nanjing, each for a day. We visited the Humble Administrator's Garden and Shantang Street in Suzhou, while in Nanjing we visited Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, Nanjing Massacre Memorial, Fuzimiao, and the City Wall. I would definitely recommend visiting the Mausoleum and especially the Memorial.

Week 6: Midterm season

Hi everyone! This is the last week before the week of midterms, so everyone is spending lots of time studying. We were able to go on a field trip with the Chinese culture class during the week to make lacquer bracelets and fans. Hope you guys enjoy this week's update!
