In 2007, Lifeguard Nights went on a lil tour down the West Coast and every night I wore my replica Elvis Black Matador jumpsuit which was as uncomfortable as it was expensive (although it quickly paid for itself in free drinks). After playing The Red Room in Portland on our second night (where the marquee read “Beer Called 2 Say It Misses You”), we went back to the Holiday Inn and hit up Flirt’s Lounge, the hotel bar where a wedding reception was taking place. The DJ threw on “Burning Love” for me and the rest is history.
