End of Trip Reflection
I had a great time in Ireland. I believe I saw a ton of the island in my short time here. I think I would have made my past self proud. Seeing the cliffs of Moher was one of the coolest things I did on this trip. I see why they were the Cliffs of Insanity in the Princess Bride, it's because they are so insanely gorgeous. Spending seven weeks in Dublin has made me way more familiar with the city than I had ever thought possible. Streets that were once maze-like are now easily traversable. I can not wait to see Dublin again some day and see how much I remember.
Food wise, I think I got the main staples. I have tried traditional Irish dishes like Guinness stew and bangers and mash. Dublin has a wide variety of food from all around the world. I still believe the best thing I ate in Ireland was Indian food from a restaurant in Dundrum. From my time here, I think my palette has grown. I’ve never been a picky eater, but trying things farther outside my comfort zone has made me appreciate food more as a whole.
Academically I think I did pretty well. After final grades are released I’ll know more. The history program at UCD was a ton of fun. The field trips they took us on as a class were a highlight of the trip for me. Physics was challenging, but I liked the material and the course instructors were very nice and patient.
Overall the summer program offered at UCD is a blast. I had an amazing time here and I fully recommend it to anyone who is considering coming here.
