iPod Help?

Hey guys.

So, my iPod Touch 5th generation isn’t working, and I can’t afford another, so I’m hoping someone maybe knows how I can fix it myself. You see, the screen is black and stays that way regardless of how many times/how long I hold the power button, and on top of that it won’t be recognized by iTunes so I can restore it. The Home button has been broken for the past six months or so, so I can’t restart it or enter recovery mode through the usual means. Does anybody have a way to fix this issue? I’ve searched the Apple support threads, but most of them just suggest using the home/power button method, which I can’t do.

Woke up to my ipod alarm going off at 7 because I was afraid that I wouldn't wake up. Then I lose my spot between Una and Konner so I pretty much sit at the foot of the bed for  a little while, until Laura moved a bit and I could lay down. I fell asleep only to wake up to my phone ringing and a call from my mom that she's walking down here to pick me, Una , and Reagan up because the car broke down. So I woke up Una and Reagan and told them the get there stuff together. Una stayed in bed while Reagan got ready. My mom called again and she said she was here, I said my good byes and we left to walk home. When we arrived at my house breakfast was made then everyone napped. I felt great to sleep some more in your own bed. Reagan's dad came and he took my ipod with him so he could fix the cracked screen. The repair should only take 3 or 4 days and he comes down here to work 3 days a week (he drives from Gainsville to Largo and thats a 4 to 6 hour drive). I cant wait to have a new flawless screen on my ipod again. Plus today I might be going to international plaza, if not today then tomorrow. I haven't been there for months and I really want to go to the Sanrio store.
