IPPE Community -- Day 19/20 of 20

What I learned/accomplished today:

-- The Pharmacist today has been working for 11 years for this company. He knew EVERYTHING. He showed me different business stuff, asked me questions, showed me his way of doing things. Really nice guy. And he loves it so much. Told me where to go when I go on vacation at the end of the summer!

-- Said goodbye to everyone. Had a talk with my preceptor about references, recommendations, how to apply for a student intern position. She told me how, but she wasn’t sure if there was still a hold on hiring. At least they will have me on file if something comes up!

-- I am really going to miss everyone. I hope I was helpful. They gave me a gift card too. The card made me cry... whatever... emotions...

What I need to do:

-- Mail in my finished packet

-- Upload stuff for school.

-- Fill out an application and fax it over.

** Notes: I have to say that I am surprise by how much I actually liked working there. There were extremely busy times, but I think if I were to work in retail I would survive. Everyone complained, but they were happy to be there. And to be together. They were a great team. I hope I get a great team someday.

IPPE Community -- Day 18 of 20

What I learned/accomplished today:

-- I helped bag and organize the bags like a champion.

-- Helped a lot of customers

-- Surprise visit from my school! Thanks to my friends in the area who told me. She came an hour after I usually leave so I stayed till she was there. My pharmacist for the day was like “You can go!” and I was like “No... I can’t!” They all said nice things about me and were hilarious. I’m gonna miss them all.

-- Made up most of my packet

What I need to do:

-- Packet Update: Just the one with my dad... Med Adherence

-- Tomorrow - Follow up with preceptor about references, possible job, signing my packet!

-- UPLOAD SOME OF MY STUFF

IPPE Community -- Day 17 of 20

What I learned/accomplished today:

-- Answered one doctor phone call. Uneventful. -- Professional bagger today -- Watched my pharmacist deal with some annoying doctor. It was great! I hope I can be as good as her. She keeps her cool most of the time, but knows when enough is enough. -- I studied. A LOT. -- I ordered food like a professional. What I need to do:

-- Packet Update: Same as yesterday -- I’m getting lazy haha

IPPE Community -- Day 16 of 20

What I learned/accomplished today:

-- I filled a lot of orders, I took a couple of Doctor calls, AND I answered the phone more than usual. They were a technician down, and my preceptor was flustered and tired. So I told her I would be a tech today. I hope that I helped more than I hurt! Everyone was really nice! (THE PHONE WAS OFF THE HOOK.)

What I need to do: -- Packet Update: All Inhalers, 3 Med Adherence

IPPE Community -- Day 13/14/15 of 20

What I learned/accomplished today:

-- What has to be on a CII prescription in order to accept it

-- I refilled the automated machine like a champion!

-- Lots of patient interviews ;-)

-- My preceptor said that if I want a job, I might be in luck. Although this store isn’t hiring, there are some in the district that might have open positions now or soon once someone graduates. I want to ask her more details though, like the weekly requirements and such. Working two jobs might be a challenge.

-- I said goodbye to one tech that is on vacation this week. :-( That was sad.

What I need to work on:

-- Packet Update: All Inhalations, 3 Med Adherence *Notes:

- My preceptor gave me off the next two days, because she won’t be in

- Finished week 3 of 4!

- Actual hours worked this week: 15.5 hours

IPPE Community -- Day 12 of 20

What I learned/accomplished today:

-- Met the student intern (from the other school) that is the same year as me. She is really nice and funny. And she had been working there for over 2 years... she really knows a lot! I was impressed. She is also very independent, which is making me feel guilty for not jumping at more chances to achieve stuff haha

-- Watched a lot of DRPs from my preceptor

-- Helped clean up the pharmacy

-- Hung a lot of bags because the one technician called out from being sick. :-( I hope she is okay!

-- I refilled the automatic machine several times. The one time I got excited and jumped happily to refill it, and my preceptor laughed at me.

-- I’m gonna miss all these people when I’m gone

What I need to work on:

-- Packet Update: All inhalations, 1 DRP, 5 Med Adherence

Retail Convos Overheard

Someone: *points to automatic blood pressure machine* Can you tell me how this works?

Tech: (who has been working there for 11 years) I don't have any idea.

First Day of IPPE as Student

Someone: Where do you have your lice treatment?

Rx: Oh let me show you. (Takes me, the student, and the "Someone" to the aisle.)

Rx: Here's the kit you need.

Someone: Okay, because.... *starts to whisper* I don't really know what this is... But I'm starting to get bites in my.... area...

Rx: ... *looks at me in shock, then back to patient* Well...

Someone: And you know *gestures* it's not only in the front now, but it's starting to travel to the back area near my butt...

Rx: ... I think that... maybe... umm... You should try the lice treatment first... then see a doctor if it doesn't work.

Someone: Okay! *walks away*

Tech: (Who was nearby and overheard whole convo) What the hell was that?
