Water: Primarily used as a solvent in cosmetics and personal care products in which it dissolves many of the ingredients that impart skin benefits, such as conditioning agents and cleansing agents.
Glycerin: An emollient and humectant derived from vegetable oils that helps skin retain moisture.
Butylene Glycol: Commonly-used ingredient that has multiple functions in cosmetics, including as a texture enhancer. It’s similar to propylene glycol, but has a lighter texture.
Sodium Polyacrylate: A thickener. A synthetic polymer used in cosmetics and personal care products in part because of its ability to absorb as much as 200 to 300 times its mass in water. It is seen as a white powder when dry, but turns into a gel-like substance when wet, and is primarily used as a thickening agent. In a variety of formulas because of its other properties, including as an absorbing agent, emulsion stabilizer, film former, emollient, and viscosity increasing agent. As a sequestering agent in cleansers and detergents because of its ability to bind to hard water elements like calcium and magnesium, allowing the surfactants to work more effectively.
Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate: A complex carbohydrate made by plants. Acts as an anti-caking agent, a viscosity (resistance to flow) increasing agent, and an absorbent. It's also been shown to enhance the SPF factor in several sunscreens.
Menthone Glycerin Acetal: A menthol derivative used in cosmetics and beauty products as a flavoring agent and fragrance ingredient for its cooling effects. It is also used in cellulite treatments because of its properties as a cooling agent, although menthol has no proven effects on cellulite. Instead, its tingly reaction is thought to create the impression that something is occurring. Menthone Glycerin Acetal is considered less irritating than menthol.
Larrea Divaricata Extract: Has antioxidants properties.
Saccharomyces Lysate Extract (Yeast): Revitalizes and helps calm inflamed skin.
Rubus Chamaemorus Seed Oil (Arctic Cloudberry): "super fruits of the Arctic" rich in Omega Fatty Acids, Vitamins and potent antioxidants.
Oxycoccus Palustris Seed Oil (Arctic Cranberry): "super fruits of the Arctic" rich in Omega Fatty Acids, Vitamins and potent antioxidants
Spiraea Ulmaria Extract (Meadowsweet): Extract that can have skin-soothing properties. Helps control oiliness, tighten pores and clear skin.
Salix Alba Bark Extract (Willow): A naturally occurring form of salicylic acid, soothes irritation and helps prevent breakouts and congestion in the skin.
Buddleja Davidii Extract: Plant also known as summer lilac or butterfly bush (because the flowers are a food source for butterflies). The extracts of this plant have potent antioxidant properties and also serves to soothe skin.
Thymus Vulgaris Extract (Thyme): Used for its tonic and fragrant properties.
Angelica Archangelica Root Water: Fragrance and has antioxidant properties.
Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil (Jojoba): Extracted from the desert shrub; used as a moisturizer and emollient.
Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract (Aloe Vera): Extracted from the leaves of the aloe plant; used as a skin softener, anti-irritant, and moisture replenisher.
Laminaria Digitata Powder: Which helps skin revitalization and supports collagen and elasticity.
Retinol: A form of vitamin A that is used to promote natural cell turnover, elasticity, and suppleness and minimize the appearance of fine lines.
Ascorbyl Palmitate: Stable and nonacidic form of vitamin C that is effective as an antioxidant. Particularly effective at reducing environmental damage.
Tocopherol (Vitamin E): Used as an antioxidant and skin conditioner.
Panthenol (Vitamin B5): Member of the B complex family of vitamins. A moisturizing humectant and emollient.
PEG-75 Shea Butter Glycerides: Extracted from the nuts of the karité tree, this emollient is naturally rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
Polysorbate 20: A surfactant, emulsifier, and fragrance ingredient. Serve as a dispersing agent and mix oil and water, work as a fragrance solubilizer and stabilizer, act as a lubricator, and have a soothing effect on the skin.
Lecithin: Phospholipid found in egg yolks and plants. Widely used in cosmetics as an emollient and water-binding agent. Also has skin-restoring ability.
Pentylene Glycol: A synthetic skin-replenishing agent and solvent.
Xanthan Gum: Natural ingredient used as a thickening agent, texture enhancer, and to stabilize emulsions, which is a general term for mixtures of unlike substances such as oil and water.
Perfluorodecalin: Dissolves and delivers oxygen. Ability to dissolve oxygen is thought to revitalize skin and reduce wrinkles, increasing the partial pressure of oxygen.
Glycosphingolipid: Substances within skin’s uppermost layers that help keep it smooth, hydrated and healthy-looking. Topical application helps reinforce skin’s surface so skin takes on a younger, replenished appearance.
Myristyl Lactate: A light moisturizing emollient; used as a skin conditioner.
Myristyl Alcohol: A fatty-alcohol emollient. Used to inhibit a formula from separating into its oil and liquid components. However, it can be drying, as can most fatty-alcohols.
Ethylhexyl Stearate: An emollient derived from plant oil that prevents water loss.
Trideceth-6: Ability to penetrate the skin and be absorbed into the body, or assist other chemicals and ingredients in absorption.
Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C): A free radical–fighting antioxidant and collagen-supporter used to help fight visible fine lines and even out skin tone.
Phenoxyethanol: A glycol ether and bactericide (that functions as a disinfectant, antiseptic or antibiotic) that is primarily used as a preservative. It is also seen as a fragrance additive.
Caprylyl Glycol: Skin and hair conditioning agent that may be plant-derived or synthetic. Often used as part of a preservative blend in cosmetics.
BHT: A fat soluble synthetic compound, in the form of a white/yellow crystalline solid. Primarily acts as an antioxidant food additive because of its ability to preserve fats. It's also used as a preservative. As an antioxidant, it helps fight against the deterioration of cosmetic products caused by chemical reactions with oxygen. It's also known to work synergistically with other antioxidants.
Citric Acid: An alpha hydroxy acid and astringent with antioxidant properties; used to help skin maintain its natural pH level or adjust the pH of a product.
Sodium Benzoate: A preservative.
Potassium Sorbate: Used as a preservative, almost always used in conjunction with other preservatives.
Alcohol: Helps visibly tighten pores and control excess oil.
Potassium Phosphate: An inorganic (not composed of plant or animal matter) salt used as a buffering agent and pH adjuster in cosmetics.
Benzoic Acid: The simplest aromatic carboxylic acid. A colorless, crystalline solid naturally found mostly in berries and essential oils. Mainly acts as a PH adjuster and preservative, although it can also be used to add fragrance to a product.
Dehydroacetic Acid: A cyclic ketone that comes in the form of an odorless, white powder. A fungicide and bactericide predominantly used as a preservative. It works by killing off and preventing the growth of microorganisms that contribute to a product's decay.
Ethylhexylglycerin: A synthetic skin-softening agent also used as a preservative, a carrier, or suspending agent for other preservatives such as phenoxyethanol.
Polyaminopropyl Biguanide: A disinfectant and a preservative used for disinfection on skin. It is also not irritating like more traditional disinfectants.
Butylphenyl Methylpropional: A synthetic pale yellow liquid with a floral aroma. Used as a fragrance additive.
Benzyl Benzoate: A clear, colorless liquid with a pleasant aroma. Mainly used as a fragrance ingredient and solvent (helps other ingredients dissolve into a solution).
Linalool: Fragrant component of lavender and coriander that can be a potent skin sensitizer. Colorless liquid with a soft, sweet odor.
Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde: A perfume ingredient.
My Thoughts:
For over a year my friend has been talking about Skyn Iceland products, I even went on a hunt to find their products with her. However at the time my Ulta never had stock so I eventually gave up. But when my Ipsy July 2016 arrived I found it included Skyn Iceland The ANTIDOTE Cooling Daily Lotion. It came in a frosted squeeze which stands out from other sample squeeze I’ve received. The the gel texture reminds me of frost as well!
I have mainly used Skyn Iceland The ANTIDOTE Cooling Daily Lotion after I take my makeup off, before I go to bed. Sometimes I will use it during the day if my face feels a bit dry. For application I found a little goes a long way. Its a smooth application because, it absorbs not too quick, and not too fast. As soon as the lotion is evenly applied I feel a cooling sensation. I love it because it felt a cold compress on my face. The cooling sensation last for about 2 minutes. No matter how much I applied my skin never felt greasy. I notice a drastic change with my skin, it helped prevents breakouts and reduces any redness I had. When I stopped using Skyn Iceland The ANTIDOTE Cooling Daily Lotion it started to breakout again. The only draw back is this product is expensive.
Would I purchase Skyn Iceland The ANTIDOTE Cooling Daily Lotion? Absolutely, even though its expensive its worth the splurge.
