top five sonic games... based on actual game merit or just ur attachment to them idc

1) adventure 2 will always be my number one even though its not perfect because it is just so much fun to play there's a lot of replay value to it i think. the knuckles levels are my favorite because im very predictable but i also really really like shadow here because this was before sega put like a million mandates on him and allowed just a little bit of freedom with how he's portrayed...also the soundtrack is way too iconic for this to not be my number one...city escape ghosts pumpkin soup space trip steps actually all the knuckles raps + city escape and live and learn i guess. also the dialogue overlapping all the time is a common complaint but that just makes me love it even more because its so fucking funny

2) MANIA its the prettiest sonic game ever. ive heard people complain it relies too much on nostalgia but all the different branches make it feel new and it really seems more like a love letter to classic sonic than relying too much on nostalgia tbh. oh and well the soundtrack rules of course. feel like im gonna say that for every sonic game because no matter how much a sonic game might be objectively bad they never let you down with the music

3) i like heroes because of all the different teams in it i like having options :) also the chaotix literally never appear in anything so its nice to be able to play as them.

4) gonna put both unleashed and adventure 1 here i think. unleashed was actually the first sonic game i ever played! it was at a dentists office hdkhfkg but then i got the game after. a lot of the reason i like it is nostalgia + endless possibility SLAPS. apparently it was originally supposed to be conceived as sonic adventure 3 which is so funny to me because its as far away from that as you could get...anyways its a fun game i think the werehog feature was cool even though um. i never understood why being a werehog meant his arms were super stretchy. also i think its a crime that amy had her own levels in adventure 1 but not adventure 2. i like the echidna + chaos lore though :)

5) dont know if this is a weird choice or not but...sonic cd, its my favorite of the classic games. the time travel plot is very cool ALSO it introduced amy and metal sonic for the first time so very important game. im obsessed with the animation sequence at the beginning + the sonic boom song

also special mention to all the mario and sonic at the olympics games since they technically don’t count because i loved playing those. silver the hedgehog is annoyingly good at fucking curling of all things for some reason it took me so long to beat him
