Ceci n'est pas une conférence! the Symposia Iranica. And no, the picture is not part of the IV Symposia Iranica – it’s what was happening in front of the Parliament Hall of the University of St Andrews in one of the breaks. 12-14 April the city was occupied by some familiar and some new faces in Iranian Studies from all over the world. This time I wasn’t presenting a paper, but I enjoyed every moment and learnt so much just by observing and being around. In fact it reminded me of a dream, about starting an art project portraying academics. I mean, academics have used artists as their case-studies from the beginning of their existence, and perhaps now artists can get together and analyse the academics for a change. If I ever start a project I would name the group painting Symposia Iranica, and make sure that the organizers are there in the foreground- Thank you Armin & Michael for another fabulous conference. Sorry I didn’t have the chance to meet everyone but it was wonderful to be part of the beautiful tapestry of Iranian studies. #Iranianstudies #SymposiaIranica #Iran #conference #academics #StAndrews # UniversityofStAndrews #Scotland (at St Andrews) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwVMRyGHjnd/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1b19cha6gng52
