The Light of Eorzea speech by Iris Blanchimont
"If I might a moment of your time. I am Iris Blanchimont, Foreign Minister of Ishgard. I'll be guiding the moment of silence and remembrance at the end of the evening, but for now, from the North to the rest of the world, we give thanks.
“ Not that long ago, Ishgard came to the nations of Limsa Lominsa and Ul'dah seeking to help Gridania with a threat. From that beginning, we four formed the Eorzean Alliance to fight in the Autumn War.
"How beautiful it is to me, that the enemy the Alliance was first formed to fight is our newest member. Ala Mhigo stands proud as the fifth piece of the grand tapestry of Eorzea, as we look proud on a new era. And we, together, have made great strides against our new enemy. The ivory menace.
"And we walk beside a broader world order than ever we did in the past era, joining hands in friendship with Doma for a new order of peace against the iron will of Garlean violence.
"But it is not merely this. It is not merely a war that unites us. It is Limsan tenacity, Gridanian faith, Ul'dahn acumen, Mhigan grit and Ishgardian engineering that chart the course of Eorzea. It is our unified interests that define us. It is the community we create, together, that is who we are going forward.
“"If, one day, the ivory standard falls on Ilsabard, then we will continue to cling together against a world that can meet us any day with new threats, new pains and new challenges. We might even see our enemies today as tomorrow's friends, as was the case with the Ala Mhigans, but ever grows our drive for unity, even without those threats. Because together we stand strong.
"There will always be new challenges to overcome, new threats to our way of life, and yes, the ever-present danger of new calamities that will shake us to our core. But together, we made the Seventh Umbral Era a wink in the gaze of history, and we can do it again, when we work hand in hand as brothers and sisters of one world, under one sky, and with one unshakable conviction.
"We are Eorzea. And we do not yield to that which lingers in the dark. For our cause is the light.
"To Ishgard, the boundless sky. To Limsa, the rising tide. To Ul'dah, the bountiful soil. To Gridania, the life-giving forest. To Ala Mhigo, the fierce mountains.
"To Eorzea, ever the light that pierces any threat, when we stand together.
"II stand before you as a veteran of the calamity. As a representative of Ishgard. As a woman of Eorzea. And I salute.
“Onward, Eorzea. Shine the light forward!”
