OK JSE/IRIS PROJECT FANS, LET’S TALK ABOUT THIS
So I know I'm a few days late to this, but I came across this Tweet in someone's community post on YouTube and wanted to discuss it. It comes from the Twitter account for Jack's coffee company, but given the way it's written, it's very clear it has something to do with IRIS. So what does it mean?
First off, who is this Tom Dellinger guy? As far as I'm aware, we haven't been introduced to this character yet. My first guess is that this is the name of the scientist Arin Hanson was playing, as he was never actually given a name, and it's pretty clear based on what's said here in the document that the person who wrote it works for IRIS in some capacity (probably at a lower rank). But then again, it could be someone else at a similar rank.
Second, why is so much redacted? It's very difficult to understand the context of this email as so much of it has been removed. But going through it bit by bit, we might be able to figure something out.
Let's start with the first sentence: "I don't understand what is going on with [REDACTED] these past few months," The redacted word is clearly a name, one that we're not supposed to know. We know it's a man given the next sentence, we know he's in charge of whatever division Tom is working for (described as "working (them) to the bone"), we know he's been wearing new suits, and we know that he's been doing so as a means of gaining respect from his subordinates. So this nameless man is clearly in charge of something important at IRIS, something that's kept private from the general public. Clearly only employees and those "in the know" are supposed to know who this guy is, hence why his name is redacted. But apparently, his demeanor has been different, prompting Tom to write this email in the first place. So his whole thing about working his subordinates to the bone and wearing nice suits to gain respect is not what he's always been like.
But working them to the bone for WHAT? We don't know that, either. My guess is it's some sort of secret project this man is in charge of. Perhaps he's obsessing over it to an absurd degree, something he wouldn't normally do. This could tie into IRIS' ultimate ulterior motive, the reason they're so interested in these ALTRs in the first place.
Then we get a mention of another character. "Also, what ever happened to [REDACTED]? He used to be in the office all the time up until recently...and now even the pictures of him are gone," This is clearly a different person from the guy who was mentioned before. This guy, presumably also an employee of IRIS, has just up and vanished, which is weird given how often he was working. There could be multiple reasons for this. Perhaps this guy stumbled upon whatever horrible project IRIS is working on, one that they were keeping secrets from their lower-level employees, and either quit in a hurry because he didn't want to support it, or was found out and...um...unpersoned...if you catch my drift. This also implies that Tom really shouldn't be mentioning this guy to his fellow employees (who I'm presuming are the recipients of this email, as it's also redacted).
Tom then says he believes something fishy is going on, and that he asked Rochelle and Darnell (two other employees, I'm guessing), but what they said is redacted. Maybe they'd heard rumors about what IRIS was doing. Tom doesn't seem to believe them, meaning that IRIS lower-level employees wouldn't have a good reason to believe that IRIS is doing something bad.
Then the last censored line: "We'll see if [REDACTED], hopefully someone stands up to him," This is likely referring to that boss guy that was mentioned in the beginning, as Tom clearly doesn't like him and thinks he needs to be knocked down a peg. As for what he's referring to, I'm really not sure. He said he didn't want the rumors he was discussing to spread to anyone else, so the idea of him suggesting someone confront this boss character with them is unlikely. This could really be anything.
All in all, this is an interesting glimpse into IRIS and demonstrates how the hierarchy of the company might've led to some shady stuff going on. These are all just my thoughts, and I've yet to look into other theories about this, so if this contradicts some consensus other fans have come to, please don't hold it against me.
