Senior dancer's problem
Hello guys, I need your help for a problem I've been trying to solve for about a year. I'm a senior dancer (24 y.o) who started irish dance late (at 19 y.o). Still, thanks to my previous experiences in ballet, I never had real problems with placement. But one BIG problem that I can't seem to handle is the lightness, the fastness that "real irish dancers" have in their legs. When I see you guys dancing, it's like if you were moving a million times faster and lighter than me, and therefore you can pick up your foot to your but at each treble, and jump as is you were flying, or twist you foot at each treble back, and just move your legs in an effortless way that I can't seem able to achieve. I am going to the gym, for stamina and core work mostly, and am trying to lose some weight, but after two months I can't see any changes. What would you recommend? I just feel so slow and heavy, and my muscles seem to take twice longer to answer compared to most of yours. Hoping than someone will be kind enough to help :)
Show done! We ended up having to dance at the top of the steps of the pub because there was no floor space lolol and now I have a caffeine headache 😩
I put on makeup for my 6:30am shift for some unfathomable reason and now I'm at the gym dancing after work and it feels so grossssss
