now that we’re halfway through the year, can we can all admit that ‘Let’s Do It Again!’ by The Last Dinner Party is the best song that’s released in 2026? (potential spoilers in case I do a year-end list, but who cares?)
‘This Is The Killer Speaking’ from their album last year kind of had the same song structure (elegant, baroque verse —> bridge that could pass for a chorus on its own —> shockingly energetic, poppy chorus) but this time they take that structure and fucking run with it. like, what if there was a jaunty-ass, beautifully off-kilter guitar solo that kind of sounds like a drunk pirate (do not ask me to explain what this means) and then we introduce a fourth, even smoother, poppier section with a tempo change in the last minute and a completely different vocalist? just for the love of the game? what if we did that?
