So I think it’s about time to let you in on why I went so quiet for the last time here on instagram. One of the reasons is the still ongoing process of the diploma and the surrounding tests and a thesis finish. A part of this is my diploma-piece. A crown made from 1/10 inch 2,5 mm thick iron sheet metal. All over handengraved with a slightly adapted pattern from Hokusais wood cutting “The great wave off Kanagawa”. The 8 individual plates have been riveted with 1/10 inch silver wire after bending into shape to fit the next piece. It is wearable. Heavy but more comfortable than one would think. It has an estimated gallery price of about 28.000,- Euros. Production took estimated 129 hours of work. (It was probably more). I am glad that it came out this way because it was uncertain to me until the end if it would look good, but I think it does and I hardly ever say that about my own work. The pictures are not photoshopped aside from cropping and slight brightness adjustments. If you want to share the pictures feel free to do so but please tag me in there, thanks. :) #crown #waves #hokusai #hokusaiwave #kanagawa #japaneseart #handmade #handsawed #royal #gallery #artgallery #singleitem #nofilter #ironcrown #iron #sterlingsilver #jewelry #instagood #picoftheday #surfsup #water (hier: Klosterneuburg)
