Before & After: How I Transformed My Living Room on a Budget
I've always loved seeing transformation posts here, and I finally have my own to share! I recently decided to give my living room a makeover, but I was working with a very tight budget. After a lot of planning, DIY projects, and bargain hunting, I'm thrilled with the results and wanted to share my journey with you all.
My living room was pretty basic and bland. It had mismatched furniture, dull colors, and lacked any real personality. I knew it needed a change, but I didn't want to break the bank.
With a lot of creativity and some elbow grease, I managed to completely transform the space. Here are the key changes I made:
Paint: I started by painting the walls a fresh, light color to brighten up the room. I went with a soft grey which really opened up the space.
Furniture: Instead of buying new furniture, I decided to upcycle what I already had. I sanded and painted my coffee table and TV stand, giving them a cohesive look. I also found a second-hand couch and reupholstered it myself.
Decor: I made a lot of my own decor items. I created a gallery wall with frames I found at a thrift store and filled them with prints and photos. I also made some throw pillows from fabric remnants I picked up on sale.
Lighting: I added some inexpensive string lights and a statement floor lamp I found on clearance, which really helped set a cozy mood.
Plants: Adding some greenery made a huge difference. I picked up a few low-maintenance plants that were on sale, and they really brought the room to life.
