The brilliant Charlie Fracture just sent me his new blog post, Let's Take It Slow: The Wonders Of Slowing Down Music And The Importance Of The Long Form Listening Experience, saying "thought you might enjoy reading it". And I did, I really did. It REALLY spoke to me. I love slowing things down, I'm always doing it when DJing, as on this short mix when I took early hardcore rave and slowed it back towards the speed of the hip hop it was sampling. And I thought, hmm, I'm sure I've written about this somewhere... after a bit of head scratching and searching through old emails, I found the following article from the 2012 WIRE end of year issue. It's a bit sprawling, but it's on to something, you know... and somehow looking back over decades (as Charlie's piece does too) suits this topic. So.........
There was something I was curious about but it kept slipping my mind until now. In I-No's Arcade (forgot which route), after defeating that bloodlusted version of Nagoriyuki, what did Nagoriyuki mean by I-No being 'maternal' or 'motherly'? Is he referring to her desire to bring a brighter future to everyone as a god or something?
Most likely referring to the latter in concept, though the story itself goes a roundabout way of explaining it.
The Universal Will (Ariels) warned Happy Chaos that I-No would become deeply connected to the world's origin, which was originally "cut off" from itself to prevent a paradox.
And because of that origin, she symbolically became like a "mother" to all of Mankind (hence the reason certain individuals cried when witnessing the "giant I-No phantom"). Somewhat like a nostalgic reaction to something that is familiar and close to the core of human emotions.
The only one who actually didn't cry was Ky (for reasons linked to his own paradoxical origins which I-No herself created, see Side Red/Side Black Drama CDs for details on that one).
ANYWAY... Because of I-No's link to the origin of humanity, even Vampires like Nagoriyuki could sense that origin... but that's not all there is to it:
I-No was also herself a paradox, so the conflict caused her to choose her "past self" and preserve that future instead of her own (asserting Megumi's future). That decision was "altruistic" in nature, which is what saved Nagoriyuki's life, despite I-No's darker nature.
So in that "sense" she herself was behaving "motherly" in both her power and her choices.
That which is not slightly distorted lacks sensible appeal; from which it follows that irregularity ā that is to say, the unexpected, surprise and astonishment, are an essential part and characteristic of beauty.

Perhaps you need a constructed language, but donāt want to build one from scratch. VulgaĢr is a complete language generator.
While the conlang community produces a lot of software tools to make the process easier, most are built around the idea that the user wants the participate heavily in the process. VulgaĢr is aimed more for the people who want a constructed language without doing the heavy lifting themselves. So it features things like creating derived words and introducing semantic overlaps based on real-world language data.
Itās a very slick product, starting from basic phonemes and building words and grammars. I especially like the way it develops homonyms and overlapping senses. Real-world languages have a lot of relations between words that present in some languages but absent in others. The specific idioms of a language give it a flavor thatās hard to reproduce. By using the real-world data as a source, the generator can create new words that encompass meanings that make sense in context.
Consider extending that to other kinds of generators. Introducing asymmetry is a powerful design pattern. Breaking up the regularity of an orderly system with an unexpected shortcut can make the whole system more interesting. Thereās precedence for this in art: Perec introduced deliberate flaws in the organization of one of his novels, for example. This becomes even more noticeable in something interactive, like a language or a game.
