irulan design sketch yayayya
i know this is probably wishful thinking BUT ☝️ since denis has taken such a 180 with chani (rightfully so, book chani is barely a character) i hope he does the same with irulan in that he makes her extra mean and a PERPETUAL enemy to paul and house atreides as a whole. and i hope he does this by having a sort of Dance of Dragons take on it. paul is a usurper. irulan CANONICALLY was supposed to reign and sit the throne. she was her father’s heir. SHE HAS LEGITIMACY. i hope denis does a rhaenyra take on her. even show! rhaenyra. it would fit her character and make the overall story so much more interesting. like it’s about paul’s fake prophethood vs the ben gesserit right ??? the BG plan was to have one of their own, a WOMAN on the throne but jessica and her evil ass son messed it up and stole her birthright. denis don’t fail me pls
Like clockwork beneath the permafrost
irulan/chani... my most beloved
Struggling With A Multi-Crossover Story:
To make a long story short, I’m trying to write a story revolving around the characters of Star Trek TOS, Doctor Who (3rd and 7th to be precise), and Star Wars to meet up. One oc I’ve conjured up is Cassiel/Kianni; secretly fathered (in the ways of Darth Plagueis) by Darth Vader prior to “New Hope”, he was originally trained in the ways of the Sith. When founded and taken in by his half-siblings following “Return of the Jedi”, he was then trained to be for the Light Side.
All seemed well, but as he got older, he would switch from his usual kind self into a violent feral. As this would be out of his control, it was either a Force-related illness or a curse brought on by Palpatine to ensure Cassiel/Kianni’s loyalties stay within the Dark Side.
Meanwhile, one of my issues with this character is who his mother should be. I wanted her to be the Endor Witch, Charal (from the Ewok movies). She was cursed to be a witch thanks to Warwick breaking her shape-shifting talisman but would later be turned back into a human later. It was also discovered that she mothered Cassiel/Kianni in exchange for the said powerful talisman. After the boy was born, she left him in the “care” of his father. When she’s back in his life, the relationship of mother and son is definitely strained. Don’t even get him started with his father. Anyway, with Charal, it’ll be another redemption arc Luke’s gonna have to deal with.
While an understanding Leia takes Cassiel/Kianni’s side, Luke often tries to get the boy to be nicer to Charal. Yet, those tasks will be extremely difficult.
With a different mom it’d be different. Thanks to me getting into the “Dune” franchise, I’m kinda leaning on Irulan being Cassiel/Kianni’s mother. I’m still getting through the audiobook of the first story, but from what I’ve read from the Wiki and wikipedia, I feel bad for how she was treated. Granted, she’d hate Vader but would find some happiness as the universe of the skywalkers was more...optimistic than that of the Atreides.
Anyway, here’s her story (it’s a working progress); set during Leto II’s reign of terror, Darth Vader and/or Palpatine are somehow transported to the world of Arrakis. Eventually, they learn of the spice and desire to take the whole galaxy for themselves. This mission would soon fail when Leto II managed to defeat them. Sometime after, Vader and Palpatine are sent back to their realm, but not without the 31-year-old Irulan going with them. Either it was by choice as she thought Vader was the real Kwisatz Hadderach when told about his birth, his life as a child prodigy and connection with the Force. Or by Vader’s own will since Irulan, as a Bene Gisserit student, would supply him with powerful offspring. Granted, Vader was technically a cyborg, the two managed to bare a son through the ways of Darth Plagueis.
Unlike Charal, Irulan would stay and raise the boy in secret on Naboo. While Vader raised him as a Sith, Irulan would tell Cassiel/Kianni stories about Arrakis, the Bene Gesserit and Paul Atreides. Yet, she would not tell him of her role in the tales until he was older. Meanwhile, as Vader had treated her well enough, Irulan grew to hate him, especially with how he’d taught their son. She wanted to take the boy and run away but Vader would always have their castle heavily surrounded.
Salvation came when Vader and Palpatine would finally die. Her chance finally came and took 10-year-old Cassiel/Kianni away and later found Luke, Leia and the rest of their group. She is happy to know the Skywalker twins have a more moral agenda to better the galaxy and be good siblings to her son. But, when Cassiel/Kianni becomes ill, she does all she can to help him. With her presence, Irulan could be a help to Luke and Leia on what or what not to do when making a better world.
If I choose Irulan, it could lead to some glaring contradictions. “Dune” is set in the 10100’s. For the multicrossover, I have “Star Wars” and “Star Trek” set in 2289-2291: WAAAAAAAAAAAY before Paul Atriedes’ time. However, I think I can rectify that problem with the “Dune” universe being a completely different dimension and not the future of “Trek”’s universe or “War”. Say earth was a tree trunk; “Dune” would be one branch while “Trek” and “War” would be another. So, if “Trek” took place in 2269, “Dune” would be set in 10193.
I am thinking about having the 3rd Doctor and Kirk visit Arrakis in the prequel series set from 2269-2270, but they’d be sent back in time during Paul and Chani’s courtship (two years before Leto II and Ghanima’s birth). To be precise, think aliens witnessing the Salem Witch Trials.
Yet the other issue is it being too much. You already got “Trek”, “Wars” and “Doctor Who” colliding, would adding in “Dune” be an overload? Even for the prequel series, I already got both “UFO” and “Adam Adamant” in mind!
So, basically, I’m a bit stumped on this choice. Which would be better: Irulan or Charal?
