I will never fall for the ‘this ethnic character is drawn white because they are white passing’ because it’s just an excuse for lazy and racist writers to not include poc, i’m not saying that we shouldn’t have representation for white passing people but in dc specifically there is a huge lack of representation for poc when they are literally the majority in multiple countries so we should tackle that issue first.

this is mostly veering in the headcanon direction BUT ☝️ i’ve always believed that like in the comics it’s said that wintergreen was the only person in slade’s life that truly knew him, all sides of him, through and through, and saw through his every facade…i think lillian was the second person to come this close to knowing him that way. it’s said multiple times that slade and lili were not only on-and-off lovers over the years, but close friends, and slade himself talks about how he trusted lillian and how she broke that trust by keeping the monumental secret of his daughter from him.

lili, like billy, knew all sides of slade, all the different masks that he put on: the father, the (former) soldier, the mercenary, the failed husband etc etc. they saw through his bullshit. this is precisely what sets their relationship w/ him aside from adeline’s. the only difference is that she didn’t stick with him till the end like billy did. because even though she knew he was bad news and loved him anyway…she ultimately chose her daughter.

slade understood why and didn’t blame her for it. lillian was one of the few people in his life that slade really trusted. and i think losing her destroyed him in a number of ways, i think lili’s death was the final nail in the coffin of slade ever allowing himself to get truly intimate with another person again. or to be close and vulnerable with another person again. even his own daughter.
