I had a heartbreaking revelation about Cars (my obsession)

Doc didn't teach Lightning all of the tricks we see in Cars 3 because if he taught him too early, the inevitable rookies would analyze his racing style and be quicker than Lightning from the Get-go.

The plan was to wait until the rookies started to take over, and THEN teach him those tricks so he could prolong his career as much as possible if Lightning wanted.

Doc never thought about the possibility of not being there for his boy.

But Lightning found Smokey and learned from the man that taught Doc everything he knows.

A lot of people talk about the possibility of Sheriff knowing who Doc was, but I want to raise the possibility of Ramone having suspicions

Cause Doc also needs his routine maintenance, and per my previous headcanon post he probably struggled to take care of himself after being dropped from racing and running away

Ramone is the next most qualified person to do basic maintenance (as seen in Cars 2) so he probably helped Doc with the stuff he couldn't do by himself a lot

And since Ramone is knowledgeable on modifications and maybe performance, he probably caught on that Doc wasn't exactly your average road car

Did he think he was a racecar specifically? I don't think so. He most likely didn't know much if anything about the piston cup like the rest of the town, but seeing Doc's Twin H power 6 cylinder probably gave him the idea that there was more to him than meets the eye

Ramone didn't ask or say anything to anyone though, he minds his business

Now that I think about it, Mater might've had some idea as well given he is pretty observant and also extremely knowledgeable about different types of cars and their engines

He may not have come to the conclusion that Doc was a famous racecar, but he would've known a Hudson Hornet when he saw one

Doc probably had to either pray he wouldn't casually spill the beans or straight up tell him to keep it quiet
