For this prompt, I went with AU, that being a postgame/ simulation AU some odd 10 years later. They're married!!! Oh, and Maki's hair is short

one of my favorites hcs/aus ever is that maki's ~doomed childhood girl best friend~ is actually miu. please just imagine it. the realization. the fall out. maki’s despair and miu’s obviousness to it, assuming that ‘the crazy assassin bitch’ is glaring at her because SHE'S PLANNING TO KILL HER!!! FUCK!!! yet another instance of the so-saught-after truth being indigestible??

here's my evidence (CF=childhood friend):

the basics: a girl the same age as maki, no mentioned bio parents

CF and Maki baked sweets and shared them with each other -> Miu bakes for someone she likes (Shuichi) in her FTEs

CF is described by Maki as more talented than her, but sensitive with a kind heart -> Miu is an engineering genius (though she says she used to be talentless) and very sensitive. kind wouldn't be the word i'd use to describe her, but she does have kind heart deep inside (shown mainly to kiibo and monotaro, and she shows sympathy to ouma...while trying to kill him) and wants to be loved without being left behind

CF and Maki used to play house, with CF as the mom and Maki as the dad -> Miu is maternal and really wants to be a mother (seen with Monotaro)

CF died in a car accident -> when she was younger, miu GOT INTO A CAR ACCIDENT AND NEARLY DIED BUT WAS ACTUALLY IN A COMA, after which it's possible she also had a shift in personality since that's when she gained “talent” and a bunch of "new inventive ideas"
