April 22 is a special day for Owen and his awesome running buddy Mr. Gary! Five years ago they were matched through a group called I Run 4 which was created by @tim_irun4michael_boyle. Our friend Jessica (@mrscaromile) insisted we join. Such a great friendship and bond has been created between Owen and Gary. We planned on surprising Mr. Gary again this next weekend for the marathon he would have been running in New Jersey - but the virus changed the plans. However, Mr. Gary has been training so hard for this that he is going to run the 26.2 miles on his own, on the date of what would have been the marathon. That’s dedication! While Owen received his awards of achievement today at the end of Kindergarten, so did Mr. Gary! He received the Bus Driver of the year award in his township in NJ. Mr. Gary is not only Owen's running buddy, but a part of our family. He worked for the Post Office for over 30 years, has a family of his own, and as his son Kevin said "could run a marathon one day and the next drive the bus!" Mr. Gary we love and admire you! February 15th is International Angelman Awareness Day. Angelman syndrome isn’t well known, but it is a very complex disorder. . . I had never heard of it before till I met my #IRun4 buddy, Bryson. Getting to meet him last year after over a year of running for him, was a definite highlight to my 2018 race season. . . His struggles and his hardships, as well as the care his family has put into his daily life, have made me really appreciate all the gifts I have received as well. He makes me want to do my best always, with no excuses.
