I think they’ve proven that “shipping” has a different meaning in their mind than in reality. For most, shipping is fantastical and would apply to T2 (for what we know as of now) and Stylamet. For Charmies, shipping means it’s real. That is the disconnect.

Agree, this is a very important distinction that maybe even I have lost sight of after the years of witnessing their insanity. Shipping was always based in fantasy until they bastardized it. I adore the idea of Tim and Tay being together but I'm not willing to say that it's a definite thing in reality. I always liked the idea that Tim and Harry could have been more than friends but I, in no way, ever believed that it was true.
