Pulptober 2024: 25 - Luke Cage

Luke Cage! We know Luke Cage, at least the Netflix version. Comic book version, he started out in 1972, as one of the first Black superheroes in Marvel Comics. He is imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit, gains superpowers, most notably unbreakable skin, and starts to work as a mercenary. He first appeared in solo issues, then as a team with Iron Fist. What I didn't know, was that he actually ended up marrying Jessica Jones. Good for them.

I have seen the first season of his Netflix series. It was good, very beautifully made, but didn't really inspire me to watch more. I feel the same about all the Netflix Defenders. Jessica Jones, too. Great first season, no motivation to seek out more with her. I didn't even start with Daredevil or Iron Fist. At a guess, I would say that they are too "dark and serious" for me. I LOVE it when superheroes tackle serious subjects, but there still needs to be some light-heartedness somewhere. I have the same issue with modern Batman adaptations, by the way.

So, I watched the new Completionist video, and while I understand that he’s compelled by his job to do things differently from the average player and get everything in a game done as efficiently as possible, I just had to check with the general fanbase - he was wrong about the intent behind the Resources Director, right? Those badges are not meant to be goals pursued for their own sake; they’re not supposed to encourage grinding. They’re there to be a dumping ground for all the currencies you’re accruing as a byproduct of your runs that you no longer have a use for. Am I right? Like, I still gain Darkness and gemstones in every run, even though I've long since completed all mirror upgrades and renovations. I like the Resource Director because it annoys me to have obscene amounts of useless Darkness and gemstones piling up in my inventory, and this way I can get rid of them.

I'm so glad I don't have don't have to worry about those stupid Ticketmaster boosts and wondering about prices for tickets. But the again, I'm also sad for you guys because I know you guys are so stressed out about this. Like y'all should not be stressed about getting tickets. It's quite sad actually. And it makes me a little sad. Taylor wants us to be happy but she's making y'all upset, sad, angry, and stressed and it shouldn't be that way.
