I lost track of a post I should have saved and responded to, so you're getting this instead:
Today I learned that some people actually unironically (though perhaps not consciously) base their system of morality solely on the consequences. They use "It didn't ruin my life, I feel no regret, and I haven't faced some kind of 'karmic justice'" like it's some kind of "gotcha." "You can't tell me I'm wrong because I got away scott free so it must be okay. Take that, haters!" What???
#I can understand the psychology of people who grasp at straws to justify obviously immoral actions as moral#I understand how the morality of many actions is genuinely debatable#I can even as disturbing at it is comprehend the philosophy of those who believe morality doesn't exist#I accept there are people who recognize the immorality of their actions and just don't care#But this#This is absurd#Disturbing#“I got away with it so therefore I've done nothing wrong.”#“I don't feel bad so therefore you have no right to condemn me!”
