I get that my father going "yeah it's over. it's the end. they're dying." everytime a pet or a family member is even slightly sick is some sort of anticipatory grief response to block the trauma before it happens or some shit. I really do.

But fuck, you're a grown ass man. You don't get to tell that to your wife and children about their loved ones. And you don't get to use that logic as an excuse to not care for your sick pets and family members when they most need you. That's just being an asshole and even sometimes straight up aggravating their condition.

I really dislike the way the LOTR movies handled the stairs of Cirith Ungol. Peter Jackson did Sam and Frodo so dirty. Book fans know that at no point was Frodo convinced by Gollum of all people to send Sam back down for allegedly eating too much lembas. While Gollum was sneaking off to make plans, Frodo was sleeping with his head in Sam's lap, trusting only him. The two of them walked through Shelob's lair hand in fucking hand. Gollum canonically wished he had what they had.
