Do you believe that Pluto should be (or is) a planet?
Pluto, originally named a fully-fledged plant was demoted to being a planet–and for good reason. It orbits in a disc zone called the Kuiper Belt, which is out of Neptune’s orbit. There are many other pieces of matter floating in that same belt that are the same size as Pluto. So, the argument presented at that time is solid and true. If Pluto is a planet, then why not Eris, or Haumea, or Makemake, which are other Pluto-like structures in the Kuiper Belt?
However, there are still ongoing arguments about why Pluto is most certainly a planet. In 2015 the New Horizons spacecraft flew past Pluto, and it was revealed that Pluto was not just a lump of rock and ice floating in the middle of space. It was shown to have a mostly smooth surface, and it is believed to be most definitely a geographically dynamic world. The crust seems to be constantly reshaping itself, meaning that the planet is likely to be made of a slushy sea.
What does this mean for my opinion? Well, there are many, many more arguments besides these ones about Pluto’s status as a planet. I myself will continue calling it a planet, but simply for the psychological affect of the word. Calling Pluto a planet makes it seem more important–more people with remember it. Despite this I, for once, am neither for nor against Pluto being renamed as a planet. There is new information being brought up constantly, and with every new piece of information people’s opinions shift. So, for now, I wait until I can be certain of my stance on things.
Thank you for your question. I hope my answer was satisfactory.
Thanks, Comet Pluto. Solar System Nomenclature Needs A Major Rethink

Pluto can’t seem to catch a break lately. After being reclassified in 2006 by the International Astronomical Union, it seemed that what had been the 9th planet of the Solar System was now relegated to the status of “dwarf planet” with the likes of Ceres, Eris, Haumea, and Makemake. Then came the recent announcementsthat the title of “Planet 9” may belong to an object ten times the mass of Earth…

Is Pluto a Planet Again?
Short answer: No.
I have seen far too many posts lately about Pluto being reinstated as a planet by Harvard astronomers - but that's quite far from the truth.
What actually happened was a debate, and at the end of the debate the audience (Which was open to the public!!!) was asked to vote on whether it should be a planet or not.
And the funny thing is - that wasn't even what the debate was about. It was about whether or not dwarf planets should be considered a subsection of planets, instead of an entirely separate (though related) section of celestial objects. (Like asteroids and comets.)
Now i disagree with this, for the simple fact that if pluto were a planet, it would mean so are the other 5000-odd objects that are JUST LIKE pluto itself. we would go from having 8 to having 5000+, not 9.
But what do you think?
Is Pluto a Planet?
So I'm writing a paper, and the topic is whether Pluto is a planet or not. I'm using both opinion and fact-based information. So I want to know: What do you think? And why? Answers could be scientific or opinion based.
