wip wednesday snippet

thank you for the tag @tgmsunmontue 🌸 i'm a lil jam packed this week and fighting for writing time, so here's a snippet from a new wip I started over the weekend, because I never learn my lessons.

this will be familiar to @intrepidjourneys and @welcometololaland but bradley reminiscing on their high school selves really struck a tone LOL

As Bowman starts reminiscing through some house party Jake had hosted – of course, Bradley sighs behind his drink, with parents gone that often and a house that big, it was only natural – envy scalds like sharp rays of sun on his neck.

Jake’s not that cool, Bradley thinks, watching his boyfriend’s dimples crinkle in his cheek as he laughs. He’s prone to getting stressed when the Cowboys play, hiding behind the couch on occasion and making Bradley tell him what’s going on. He yakked the first time they went into the simulator, and he’s a baby when it comes to spice, sniffling when a jalapeño seed gets him.

All in all, Jake’s a dork, when it comes down to it. And Bradley loves him exactly that way, even if he’s yet to get the nerve up to say it.

he's here opening the ground open and making obstacles for his opponents like wipeout

Also love when he plays defense, he doesn't really know how to attack efficient but he'll evade until he sees fit

"It's not my house.” John shrugs, not proud like she was expecting. Instead, there’s something like guilt that sits on the edges of his face and in the back of his throat.

In which the author tries to hint at the ever-looming and tricky subject of The Beatles And Money And Class, but Linda’s confused because she doesn’t know John all that well yet. Thanks for the ask!
