guys...
I think Anakins downfall would have been so much juicier if he and Rex had had a split as well. So it's not just obiwan fighting him to the death or Ahsoka being too faithful in him, it's rex starting to doubt the war (and maybe Anakin by extension?) and they have an ideological split over that that they both try to ignore even though it keeps getting stronger and stronger.
And i get that rex's probably fatal flaw is this unwavering loyalty to the Republic and to Anakin and the Jedi and all that, but that unwavering loyalty in the fave of *motions to everything* grates on my nerves more than just a little. So Rex looks like a man suffering from some p bad cognitive dissonance to me.
But back to Anakin. Anakin's battle plans maybe get more reckless, more aggressive. Yes he's leading from the front as always, but what's the point when more brothers are dying--and not even just dying under Anakin, but dying in the war in general? The ear gets tough, there are more losses than wins, everything feels like one step forward and two steps back. Anakin insists they're fighting for the right thing. Somehow the "right thing" doesn't include better conditions for rexs brothers. The clones were never part of the equation for freedom. What are they even fighting for? Civilians that don't recognize them as people? Is it selfish to think like that? Isn't it selfish to expect people to fight and die for you without acknowledging their personhood?
Imagine if Anakin makes what is ostensibly a good call but is also damaging to the clones. What if Rex has to remind him that just because the 501st will follow him anywhere doesn't mean that's a good thing. The horror that he even has to point that out to Anakin.
Ahsoka believing in Anakin. Obiwan losing faith in him. Rex struggling to hold on but steadily losing that trust as well, such a minute shift at first that neither of them even feels it.
Honestly Yuuri repeatedly crying out “Phichit-kun!” increasingly loud and scandalized with Phichit mischievously smiling with his phone out sums up their current dynamic so well and it warms my heart to know that this is an open friendship because Yuuri isn’t really the type to get so easily casual with others,,, bless them both honestly
