Isaac Maple

Despite the fact that Isaac is really into ghosts and supernatural stuff, it’s very easy to scare him. People sneaking up behind him always scares the daylight out of him.

Isaac and Sierra, both 41

41. Does your character’s family affect your character in any way?

Isaac - Absolutely. Isaac’s journey has everything to do with his family. The obvious one is his deceased mother, which prompts his interest in the spiritual and paranormal. He also has the urge to prove to his father that he’s not weak and can take care of himself. Max loves his son, but is overprotective of him for obvious reasons that Isaac grows to resent a bit. In many ways, his extended family, granparents Norman and Caroline, aunt and uncle May and Drew, cousins Ana and Andy, ground him and stop him from becoming completely obsessed with death, ghosts and all kinds of grim stuff.

Sierra - Yes but not as much as her brother and sister (or others for that matter). Where much of their journeys do have a huge influence from Paul, Sierra’s been a little more liberal minded where she thinks that it doesn’t matter who her parents are or what they do, it only matters what she wants to do with her life (this is a very Ketchum outlook on things...as in a belief Ash instills in his kids). Anyway, Sierra does want her mothers, Dawn and Zoey, to be proud of her, but it’s not her driving force. She’s very close to Gwen though, so Gwen’s problems often become her own. She’s also very close friends with her cousin, Rose, traveling with her all over so that directly impacts where she goes and what she does.

Issac Maple

Is a serious boy who is absolutely fascinated by the paranormal, stemming from the fact that his mother died when he was born. He loves to explore ‘haunted’ buildings and is really interested in finding answers and proof of paranormal phenomenon outside of ghost pokemon.

Misdreavus (Female. Nickname: Isa) is a mature, motherly pokemon that met Isaac when he was in a really low moment. He believes that there’s some form of connection between the pokemon and his deceased mother, hence why he called her Isa (his mother’s name). She tends to be pretty gullible. 

Rotom (Male.) is an oddly serious and cranky pokemon that does not know how to take jokes. 

Sableye (Male) is a mischievous creature that likes to pull pranks on all the other pokemon and tries to act innocent when he gets caught.

Shuppet (Female) is a fairly care-free pokemon that always seems to act shocked over Sabeleye’s shenanigans. 

Candelure (Female) is a curious pokemon that has a tendency to float away when something shiny catches her attention.

Dusknoir (Male) likes to try and keep the group in order though he’s rarely ever successful.

PKMN Fankids - Isaac Maple

He is Max’s son, and grew up only knowing his father since his mother died in an accident (that forced him to be born prematurely to save his life). This just means that he’s close to his cousins and extended family. Searching for answers about his mother is also why Isaac developed a fascination with ghost-type pokemon and the paranormal.

Halloween is really the perfect time to talk about a trio that I’ve overlooked until now: Sienna, Isaac & Andy! 

May had Andy and Isaac with her when she went over to Sinnoh once, where they met Gwen and Sienna. Gwen didn’t care and ignored them, and Andy just kind of chilled playing games, not really interested in being there.

Isaac and Sienna, on the other hand, became friends at that point of time despite the fact that she’s two-years-older. Isaac has always been interested in ghosts and the paranormal, even from a very young age. Max believes that this stems from his interest in his deceased mother, and it was harmless so he let Isaac have his strange fascination. Sienna, on the other hand, has slightly stronger than normal psychic abilities. She can’t levitate things, or actively read minds but she gets distinct impressions of people, even ones that she says isn’t there. As she gets older, she becomes super interested in paranormal things as well.

Isaac wants to study ghost pokemon when he leaves home, and Andy decides to tag along with him, because he’s a bit curious and he thinks it’d be fun to try and record paranormal things. They make a youtube-like video series about it. Isaac is still friends with Sienna and thinks it’d be neat to get her in on it too and Andy eagerly agrees. So she starts traveling them too, being a part of these ‘ghost hunting’ shows.
