”Damn it all.” The words muttered past an unlit cigarette between his lips. Who goes all the way down to the beach without a lighter? If he went back to his cabin now, he’d surely miss his first sunset here, and that was the entire point of lugging himself out here. These beaches were miles and away better than the ones back home and Silas would be damned not to take as many pictures of it all as he possibly could, if only for himself. ”But how can I enjoy it without a fucking smoke?” He was talking to himself, he did that on occasion. Very frequent occasion.
In a last ditch effort and a ghost of a hope, Silas looked up and darted his eyes along the beach for anyone that looked like they might have a light on them. Securing his camera against his chest, he jogged through the sand, long legs carrying him to another lone spectator of the ocean. “Hey beautiful, you wouldn’t happen to have a light, would you?” His eyes were all optimism. He simply could not enjoy this sunset without a smoke.
