It wasn’t much, but it was enough.
A roof over your heads, despite the cold drafts. Food in the pantry, if the stale taste of nothing could satisfy. Beds for you all, if one could ignore the sore joints and taught muscles the morning after.
But it was home; and with it, you were family.
Furlan came through the door with Isabel in tow, snickering amongst themselves as they brought in rations for supper. A meal you’d make, and Levi would clean up after.
More food than usual, a steady routine, companionship—there was much to be thankful for this holiday.
