While Juliet hadn’t been set on avoiding Isabel Romero, she wouldn’t have been exactly opposed to getting a few days to settle in before their (sure-to-be-awkward) reunion. But the fates were never quite were on her side, and upon sneaking into the Summer Solstice festivities to grab a quick funnel cake (in all her travels, no one quite made them like Old Louisa), she spotted the familiar head of dark hair by the very stand she was making a beeline for.
It wasn’t too late to turn in the opposite direction.
But Juliet had never lacked courage — if anything, her courage levels bordered on sheer recklessness — and she instead sauntered over to the Oleander Sentinel, determined to have her funnel cake and eat it too.
“Isa.”
A glare was shot her way by Isabel’s current companion, obviously none too happy with how she had interrupted their conversation. She returned his glare with a withering look of her own, sending him scurrying away with a wave of her hand.
She returned her attention to the woman. “Missed me?”
