A new short story, as part of the WildeHopps Family AU, is now here for you to read (and hopefully enjoy)! Nick and Isabelle witness first-glance at one of their two newest members of the family, Jason's eyes opening for the first time. ^^

Jason (Jay-Tee) Wilde-Hopps belongs to me!

It’s a lovely summer morning in the 5 year old Wilde-Hopps household. There lives a mother jackrabbit named Judy Hopps and a father fox named Nick Wilde, with currently three children, Isabelle, Robyn and Jason. Judy is very much the matriarch of the house, keeping everything in check and making sure the kids are safe and happy, while Nick would fill in her role every time she went out on duty as a police officer.
Nick is also a cop too, but takes time off for paternity leave, as he is actually more committed to being a nurturing stay-at-home parent than Judy would be. Not to say that Judy is not nurturing! Of course she is! It’s in the bunny’s blood (or “de-na”), after all! But she is also very committed to making Zootopia a safe and welcoming place for all mammals large and small to live! ^^
While Judy went out with baby Robyn (who had just gained her sight earlier than her twin brother Jason) to the supermarket, Nick takes baby Jason out of his crib, and brings the still blind-sighted kit down to a sofa to play with him.
4-going-on-5 year old Isabelle steps in to see her little hybrid brother smiling and enjoying a little quality time with his dad. “Hey Papa, how’s Jason doing?” Isabelle asks.
“He’s really happy right now. I’m making sure of that.” Nick replies as he tickles his little rabbit-fox hybrid son. “Can I join in too?” Isabelle asks again, and Nick says “Why not? He’s your little brother. Climb on in.”
Isabelle climbs up onto the sofa to get next to her dad and her newborn brother. She begins to have a lot of fun, playing with and holding her tiny half-fox half-bunny brother.
After a while though, Jason begins to struggle a bit, and suddenly, his eyes begin to open, revealing a pair of beautiful citron-colored eyes, much to the duo’s amazement and surprise. Seeing his dad and older sister for the first time, Jason starts to giggle and cooed happily.
“Hi little fella. I’m your daddy. Can you say ‘da-da’?”, Nick says to his son in a calm soothing voice.
“And I’m Isabelle, your big sister”, Isabelle replies in a similar tone.
Jason reaches out to Isabelle, as she moves her paw close to him. He reaches out to the large paw (large, that is judging by his small size) too and touches one of Isabelle’s fingers, as she responds with such warmth in her heart and a smile on her face.
“Thank God for the gift of sight…” Nick states calmingly. “Without it, we wouldn’t be able to observe the magic and beauty of the world that only our eyes can give us.” He looks down to his daughter, as she takes total heed of what her dad is saying.
“I remember when you were Jason’s age, Isabelle. Your eyes were closed, and you were struggling sometimes to open them, but they didn’t develop quite yet. But now, I find beauty staring at your adorable violet eyes. They look just like your mom’s. She may not be a fox, but hey, she still makes a good mom, doesn’t she?”
“Yeah! She’s the best!”, Isabelle replies enthusiastically.
Jay starts to suck on one of Isabelle’s fingers, and Isa herself looks down at this with surprise and just thinking “Awwww…”. “He must be thirsty”, Nick suspects. “I’ll get him a bottle of milk! Do you wanna come help, Isabelle?” he asks. Isabelle replies “I’d love to!”, and they leave the chair to head over to the kitchen and get little Jay-Tee a bottle of fresh milk. And so begins a new chapter in Jason’s life, with much fun and adventure with his two sisters and his parents!
A commissioned story about young Isabelle Wilde looking at a certain video about her mom talking racist-like about Predators on her first interview. A Wilde Journey: Chapter 1, Page 1
I was no more than six months old when dad first showed me to the world, voluntarily showed me that is. It was the first time that he and I were actually going to go out and visit other animals; not just doctors who were fascinated by me. But actual friends and family of his. Though I’m sure I was excited at the chance to go out, I doubt I could actually express that emotion in the slightest; have you ever seen a six-month-old who could?
However, Dad did say that on that particular day I was more active than usual, giggling fidgeting, and grabbing anything I could get my paws on, which mainly ended up being his fluffy tail or velvety ears. Wether or not this was a coincidence I’m not sure, but I do know is that my first outing turned out to be one of the most enjoyable moments of Dads life, oh and Moms too.
