merfolk of the day: isago from mermaid saga
Malchut: I’ve got a question for you. What’s heavier, a kilogram of steel, or a kilogram of feathers?
Malchut: That’s right, it’s a kilogram of steel. Because steel is heavier than feathers.
—
Malchut, concerned: What do you mean????
Isago: They’re both a kilogram.
Malchut: …but steel’s heavier than feathers.
Isago: I know, but they’re both a kilogram.
Malchut: what.....
—
Malchut, standing in front of a scale: It doesn’t prove anything, i– steel’s heavier than feathers!
Kukaru: I know, but, they’re both a kilogram, right? So they’re the same!
Malchut: But–but look at the size of that, that’s cheating!
Kukaru: They’re the same weight.
Malchut: …but steel’s heavier than feathers
—
Malchut: Gijiri, tell them.
Gijiri: They’re right. They’re both a kilogram. What is it you don’t get?
Malchut: . . .
Isago: Malchut, are you alright?
Malchut: I don’t get it…
Kukaru: It’s alright.
Malchut, afraid: I don’t get it….
Possibly not the most appetizing-looking plate of food I've ever made, but oh man was this delicious. Butter chicken with curried spinach. 👌👌👌 Definitely going to be making this again. #food #missioneatinghealthyagain #isago

sunshine is brief || isago || trial 2.2 || re: ezume, tetsu
The lack of self-worth, the doubt in yourself, wondering if you've done the right thing... Being sure if you did the right thing, even when those around you disagree...
It all rang too familiar to Isago. But, of course, she wasn't thinking of herself. Even when others dig sharp words into the two culprits, and it feels like they stab into her too, she's not thinking of herself. No one likes to be pointed at and told they're wrong... But it still stung seeing it happen to someone else.
What happened to them...? How sad that they were able to feel that low...
Because Isago knew how terrible it felt to be in their shoes, of course, she empathized, and sympathized, and wanted them to suffer no longer. Not like she did. No one deserves that...
"Enough... Enough of the hatred, I can't..."
It was hard for her gather up enough composure to speak on the duo's behalf, as she was choked up watching everything unfold.
"How... How could some of you still hold so much moral high ground...? As if you all aren't in the same situation? I... They wouldn't have had to do this if we weren't forced here in the first place... We are being pushed to desperation. Are you any different from them, disregarding Miura-san and Ikeda-san the same they they've disregarded Garcia-Kaneko-san's life? Why can't we just... support each other? We cannot escape here if we keep turning on each other...!"
Objectively, there were many differences between the two, but Isago held beliefs to her soul. Even in times like these, there was never a time for such venom... What do people gain from hurting instead of listening, she wondered?
Hurt people hurt people, right? So why not try to stop the cycle with a little bit of love?
"You two... Maybe it's just me, but... I don't think you two... deserve the backlash. What you did was wrong, yes, but... in such circumstances in these... especially since you've done the deed for the sake of someone else's happiness than, say, for heartless fun... The fact you wanted to do something to keep the ones you loved safe... there must be a kindness in that, right? Your lives still are worth something to me, despite everything...
So although you look a worthy life away... You two are selfless in my eyes. You tried to protect someone's else's life and happiness... It does not have to be black and white... You've committed a sin, but it doesn't mean you've lost your heart. And even if it is selfish on the other side of the coin...
Is it so bad... to just want?"
Why was it a crime to just want things? To want to be loved, to want your siblings to be safe... All of a sudden, it's a crime you can't appeal. Now, you're no different than a serial killer who kills just to know what it felt like to kill.
"I still expect you two to repent, but... to want is to be human. I'll still support you two through and through indiscriminately, so..."
Through tears, she smiles.
"I hope you're glad you're able to successfully protect what you wanted to. I'm glad, too."
Other's people's happiness... was all that she wanted.
So she hopes that murder might've brought that here, somewhat.
"Just apologize to Garcia-Kaneko-san when you can, okay?"
im a florist not a detective || isago || trial 2.1 || re: rei, tetsu, hiori
She was useless for the first one. Useless, useless, useless. All she did was stand there quietly, in misery, wondering why didn't she prevent it, wondering how she couldn't do anything at the moment. Wondering if it could've been stopped. If she could've stopped it. If she had just stepped in. If she had just spread herself thin enough.
Well, not like she was ever found useful by anyone before. But even then, at the very least, she could try to be...
But she was a florist, not a detective.
"Ah... I personally thought of spiders when I... saw the footprints on the ceiling. The rest of the odd evidence, though, such as the odd spirals... I do not know where to begin with that. It confuses me just as much as you... I'm sorry."
She shakes her head,
"But while we try to unravel that unknown aspect, I did um, notice that... The knife on the bed was slightly bloodied, yes? And, well... as Miura-san said, it looked like Garcia-Kaneko-san had some injuries aside from the knife and the glass, most notably around his shin I think...? So I was wondering he was... somehow incapacitated first..."
The more she thinks about it, the more sorrowful she looks, and she tries to override the feeling with the accompanying confusion of the case.
"Also... um... O-obviously I'm not at all an expert on this, but I also saw that the broken glass mainly stayed inside 4420. So that must mean the whole thing started in 4419, right? Because for all the glass to be in 4420... it would have to be broken into from 4419. ...I don't know what that would mean in the case and if that's even useful though...
...er. If no one knows what his abilities were, does anyone know... at least know what yokai he has a pact with? So we can try to figure out of those spirals are his or not..."
