I know you can’t hear me, and I think at this point I might actually be crazy, but I need you to know how sorry I am. If I never get the chance to tell you that, I just want you to know how sorry I am for taking her, for letting him bring us to this place. Edward Cullen, despite having to have led a privileged life, has always known the value of hardwork and has his successful professional life to prove just that. Closed off to his own self, he is disgusted of people who exist for nothing, that's why when an intern named Isabella Swan, who looks like she hasn't slept for days on end and, according to her resume, has dropped out of school, is employed as his assistant, Edward does nothing but make her life a living hell.
But after a chance encounter and discovering his assistant's real situation, will Edward finally have a change of heart, not just towards Isabella but with his life, in general?
This short fic has always been one of my favorites, with the way it's written and how the author (who btw also wrote This is Not My Life) was so talented in describing how Edward feels and thinks. Heartfelt and so good, this is a definite must read.
