THE PLANETS WORST OFFENDER: Turkey
Turkey inflicted a genocide upon the Greek peoples of Anatolia:
Turkey inflicted a genocide upon the Armenian peoples of Anatolia:
Even today, even as I type these things the Greek minority in Turkey is still persecuted, though the lands were Greek by all rights. What is today Istanbul was the Hellenistic city of Constantinople, and before the Emperor Constantine gave it that name (in the 4th century) it was known as Byzantium.
...which is why the eastern Roman empire is called the "Byzantine Empire" or "Byzantium."
The Greeks currently being persecuted in "Turkey" have been there since ancient times. In fact, when Alexander the Great wrestled the territory away from the Persian more than 2,300 years ago it was already Greek. The Persian themselves had invaded and conquered the Greeks who were already living there.
...but they're a persecuted minority under Turkey's brutal Muslim government.
A similar situation (and in many ways worse) is Turkey's brutal repression of the Kurdish people, and their violent response to Kurdish independence.
Turkey occupies and brutally defends it's grasp on Kurdish lands.
Now why I am bring this all up is because I have been recently talking to someone in Turkey, someone who flat out denies the ongoing repression of indigenous peoples as well as the actual attempts at genocide in the past.
HINT: The only reason why there are so few Greeks living in Turkey today is because so many were slaughtered, and so many more were driven out. That's why they call it "Genocide," folks. You may know it by another name as well: "Ethnic Cleansing."
It's still going on. Not as brutal today (at least against the Greeks), not on the same scale but it never stopped.
Where's the outrage? The Muslim world doesn't even so much as acknowledge any of this, let alone condemn Turkey. And the Turks themselves are quick to condemn Israel for doing so much LESS, even as they celebrate their own actions and history.
Here, I quote the very Turk I've been speaking to:
Israel brings that lands atrocity, Turks brought that lands peace and tolerance.
That's an exact quote, cut & pasted from their message. "Peace & Tolerance" but only after they conducted ethnic cleansing on a massive scale, repressing Greek, Armenian and Kurdish "minorities," slaughtering millions and driving away millions more.
This is why there can be no peace in the middle east. Nobody wants it. Nobody gives a damn about peace. In fact, they're against it. All they're interested in, all anyone is interested in is gaining an upper hand in the violence.
This is no joke. This is as real as real can get. The above is from someone claiming to be young and against violence, yet they fully support everything Turkish, and that includes a direct refusal to even acknowledge the ethnic cleansing of the past... let alone the repression of "Minorities" today.
