After hearing about Gilbert Gottfried this week I finally buckled down and hammered away for some 15 hours straight and got this huge piece of design and pattern work done.
Yes, they’re probably gay and yes I have come up with a backstory where they possibly meet in a gathering of their respective royal courts and fall in love, do you even have to ask at this point?

Wanted a nice palm design, this took about 40 minutes
My prelim reading today was about Muslim-Jewish relations in France... Often depressing, but overall it argued that the language of "polarization" and "conflict" hides the complexities of how communities lived and live together, and obscures the potential power of solidarity between neighbours. This is true to my experience as well - that above all peace is still possible when we can learn from our histories and listen to each other. Wishing all my Muslim friends a very joyous and blessed end to Ramadan. Mabrouk l3aid! Eid mubarak!
contemporary pattern designs inspired by Islamic patterns on the Shrine of Hazrat Ali in Afghanistan - applied in 3 different colour schemes. I really enjoyed this project. I made it contemporary by using watercolour to build the basic elements of my design. I feel many contemporary patterns use traditional materials to keep the texture of the material (such as the washy, fluid look of watercolour and the tooth of the paper) and memphis design. So I decided to incorporate both into my design. Placement of the elements and colours were manipulated in illustrator.
